Apartment with sauna in historic commandery

On the mezzanine floor of the old commandery, you will stay in the rooms where guests were once welcomed. High windows, an open floor plan, a wood-burning stove, and the botanical balcony overlooking the courtyard—here, history is combined with loving clarity. The vaulted sauna in the basement is open to you every day.



The living room is spacious and bright: kitchen island, long table, wood-burning stove. Light floods in from the south and west. The two bedrooms are quietly located on the north side – with a view of St. John's Church. Two bathrooms make the apartment ideal for families or couples who are friends. Natural materials such as clay plaster and wood fiber insulation ensure a pleasant indoor climate.



From the botanical balcony, you can watch the day come to an end – with a view of the Romanesque house and the church square. Inside, the ceiling heating keeps the apartment warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer. The wood-burning stove in the living room makes it even more cozy. The communal sauna in the vaulted cellar of the house can be used daily from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. without reservation. Additional time slots can be arranged individually.



The Elbe River is nearby—perfect for canoe trips with a rental canoe, bike rides, or simply sunbathing on the beach. Café Lämpel offers homemade cakes, and the Salzkirche hosts concerts and exhibitions. Grünland Salzwedel supplies fresh vegetables and cheese. In the evening, you can enjoy the light on the dike or borrow a book from the Komturei shelf.
