We had an incredible, once in a lifetime experience staying with Bill and Polla. They are both warm, welcoming and helpful hosts, sharing information and stories about village life and culture and local farming. The accommodations are rustic, but clean and totally functional. The views and area is just stunning and the the off-grid, very limited cell reception meant a true disconnecting and relaxing vibe.Polla made all our meals from scratch using mainly locally sourced or grown fruits, vegetables, etc. Everything was delicious! One day Bill went our fishing and brought back an assortment of fish that Polla then cooked up in a few different ways and served with the most delicious, homemade coconut milk sauce.The weather was not totally on our side, so between low tide, rain or high winds and surf, made it difficult to get out swimming/snorkelling or going on boat excursion. We did make it out swimming with sharks - really amazing! It meant we had lots of time for reading, journalling, card playing or just taking in the views.We did not see another tourist the whole time we were there. Recommend being prepared with bringing a headlamp or flashlight, mosquito repellant, water shoes or old runners, bottled drinking water or a filter (we brought lifestraw water bottles) and helpful to have a few snacks (like bars) in case you get hungry between meals or while out on excursions.
