We had a great time on the lake. Along with all the water toys we brought along, Laurie provides a canoe, paddle boat and row boat. The cottage was large enough to sleep 8 of us, with most of us being adults. The screened in porch was a nice place to sit and relax while looking at the great view of the lake, watch the kids play in the water, catch up on some reading or enjoy a card/board game. With-in an hours drive you could view waterfalls, go on a copper mine tour, swim in lake Superior, and hit the shops of Eagle River (which also has go-karting, mini golf, and horse back riding). Issues we had: We asked for a map of the chain of lakes, which has several rocky and tree stump areas (there was one tacked to a door in kitchen, but we were told not to remove it), she said she'd get us a copy and never did. The VRBO add said to bring along extra sheets to cover furniture if we ever intended on leaving our dog at the cottage alone, which we were happy to do, but when we got there Laurie asked if we brought a kennel or she would provide one. Our dog has never been kenneled and we weren't about to do so in a strange place. This just seemed like it was going to be a huge issue with Laurie, so we brought our dog with us everywhere. (it worked out), The cleanliness of the cottage was good, but there were some areas that needed a bit more scrubbing; like the draw under the stove, lots of mouse droppings, didn't use any of the pans from there. Most of the cupboards/drawers in the kitchen could use a little extra elbow grease, but they weren't terrible. (She did mention that her cleaners didn't show up and she had to do it herself and she has a bad back). There were lot's of books, like everywhere. Many of the drawers/cupboards had books in them which took away from space we needed for putting our clothing and other items. Last issue, some of the other neighbors down the way were lighting off fireworks at about 9:00 pm, we were excited to watch them. The next morning I woke up to a text message (that was sent the night before) telling us to nock of the noise she had company visiting with 2 dogs and a 2 yr. old trying to sleep. There was a second text saying sorry they realized it wasn't us. It shouldn't have mattered, it was only 9pm, and you can't expect everyone around you to stop enjoying there vacation, because you have a dog/child with a bedtime or afraid of the noise. The issues we had were totally out weighed by the good time we had with our kids.
