Guest Access:
Guests have full, private use of the entire apartment, including both bedrooms, the kitchen, bathroom, and living/dining area, plus shared use of the outdoor patio. You’ll have a private entrance and a secure self check‑in system (code or lockbox) so you can arrive on your own schedule.
A residential street parking pass is available and must be requested and printed in advance of your stay; once set up, you can park like a local on nearby streets. Many guests also arrive by train at Union Station and walk or take a short ride share to the apartment.
The Neighborhood:
You’ll be in a classic Capitol Hill neighborhood with tree‑lined streets, brick rowhouses, and a mix of families, professionals, and visitors. Guests often describe the area as peaceful and residential while still being incredibly convenient to major DC sights, restaurants, and public transportation.
From the apartment, you can walk to the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and Union Station, as well as nearby parks and playgrounds, coffee shops, and a grocery store. It’s a great balance of “real neighborhood” and “in the middle of everything,” especially if you want to explore on foot
Getting Around:
Capitol Hill is one of the easiest neighborhoods in DC for getting around without a car. You’re within walking distance of Union Station (Red Line Metro, Amtrak, MARC, VRE, and intercity buses) and a short walk or ride to Capitol South and Eastern Market Metro stations on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines.
Several Metrobus and DC Circulator routes run right through the neighborhood along key corridors like Pennsylvania Avenue and East Capitol Street, with frequent service toward the National Mall, downtown, and Nationals Park. From Union Station you can also hop on the DC Circulator to reach Georgetown or other popular areas for just a low flat fare.
If you prefer to explore by bike, there are Capital Bikeshare stations within a short walk, including one by Union Station, giving you easy access to bikes for quick trips around the Hill and the Mall. Many guests choose to park once using the residential parking pass and then walk, Metro, bike, or ride share everywhere from this central spot.
Other Things to Note:
There is a family living upstairs, and you may hear normal family sounds (footsteps, kids playing, stairs), just as they may hear you—this is a real DC rowhouse, not a sound‑proofed hotel. If you value an authentic neighborhood experience and understand typical city noise, this home is a great fit.
We provide starter supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, and basic toiletries); for longer stays, you may need to top up at a nearby grocery store. The building and block are primarily residential and feel calm at night, but as with any city, we recommend standard big‑city awareness when you’re out and about.

We had a wonderful stay at Explorers Paradise! Great location with an easy walk to the Capitol building. The unit was better than we expected and perfect for our family of 5. We would stay here again if ever back in DC.
Our family visited DC for my oldest son's senior trip. The location was perfect, we appreciated the thorough guide of the city and the spacious stay. The condo is close to all of the amenities of the city!
Would stay here again!
Great apartment in the center of the Capitol Hill neighborhood
My family enjoyed our 4 night stay here. Centrally located in a beautiful, walkable, neighborhood. Less than a 10 minutes walk to the Capitol and Union Station
Wonderful ground floor experience, for a few friends to be together. Everything was provided making this trip super simple to pack clothes for and be comfortable. Very clean property and the beds were comfortable with fantastic sheets. The noise machines provided were used with gratitude. This spot had it all!
Very nice, quiet neighborhood and property. Capitol is very close but that's about it. 10-15 min walk to train, 1 or 2 restaurants in walking distance, 1 corner market. So we had food delivered a few times. Comfortable space for our family of 4.
This property is in a great spot. The unit was very clean and welcoming. Two of the beds are very soft, the third bed and couch are firm. Kitchen had what we needed. Corner stores close by as well as some great restaurants: Nostra Cucina and Junction. We had a small maintenance issue and the management was very responsive and helpful. If there is someone in the upper unit you can easily hear walking around. If you are a light sleeper bring eye mask and ear plugs.

Ok for adults.
Three stars overall due mostly to the location & cleanliness. Two stars removed due to some false advertising & overall lack of warmth and concern for fact we were four adults with a toddler. What attracted us to this unit was seemingly friendliness to family with toddler. Not so. When I inquired about a high chair, pack ’n play etc. I was told that these were not offered & where did I get that idea? I sent a screen shot showing that these were offered in the advertisement. The response was that we could rent only the pack ’n play for 25 for the stay. One does not deal with the actual owners, but a service that they hire (City Sweet City). The unit was clean. It was in a prime location behind Capital & Supreme Court. Parking a vehicle was highly inconvenient. Not the fault of the owners. In DC you need to APPLY for a street parking permit. You have to list the make, model & plate number of the vehicle so you can print out the permit to set on the dashboard to street park without getting towed. IF you rent a vehicle as we did you don’t know this information until you pick up the vehicle. This required for us to search out a place where we could print out the parking permit. City Sweet City was not helpful. We were allowed to check in earlier after we asked that morning. Appreciated.Felt that our concerns having a toddler were sort of dismissed, but we were told to understand that a young family lived upstairs who might run around. They did. A LOT.
Very clean and great location. Great neighborhood with walkable stores, bars and restaurants. Nice outdoor space to hang out. Tvs were difficult to connect and watch. Wifi wasn't very strong either. Not enough comfortable seating for more than three in the living room. Bathroom doesnt have any counter space. Being nit picky, but these are the facts. Overall, great space!
Excellent. My family and I promise to use your properties only. Excellent Location Your team members are great

I think you should know the upstairs tenants were very loud.
I think you should know the upstairs tenants were very loud. Small children running, the sounds of moving furniture, etc. I stayed at this property last year and did not experience sounds this loud. Your team was very responsive to my questions prior to our stay and during.
Walking distance to the Capitol and the Mall. Download the Capitol Bike app and you will have inexpensive travel to all of DC's attractions.
The four of us, two teen boys, husband and myself, stayed here. Our boys refuse to share a bed. One teen took a bedroom and the other took the couch/bed. My husband loved the mattress in the front bedroom, but it was a bit too hard for me. The bedrooms are spacious. The entire place is fresh and clean. Airconditioning worked well. Although it is a garden apartment, I never felt the place was too dark. They have bright lighting and natural lighting was nice. Check in was a breeze. Keyless entry was very convenient.
I gave every category 5 stars except the overall rating. Why? Although it has everything you need this apartment lacks the extra niceties of a 5-star place. Some suggestions to lift this great place to 5-star:
- A sitting/reading chair with a side table in each bedroom. When you want a quiet room while the tv is on your only choice is a bed to sit on.
- Mirrors at average height eye level w/shelf in each bedroom. There is only one place do to your hair/makeup, the tiny bathroom. There was nowhere else I could blow dry and style my hair. One of the bedrooms had a mirror/shelf, but it was very small and it was on the wall so low it was useless. I'm 5'6".
-Additional plates and supplies. There were 6 of everything, except when something had broken and not been replaced. I think there were only 5 plates, maybe it was bowls?
- A set of plastic storage containers for leftovers. There were a few random storage containers of really odd sizes. When we cooked and had leftovers there really wasn't any good containers to store them in for the next meal.
- New set of tongs. The supplied tongs were tiny and silicone tipped. There wasn't enough distance to keep me from getting burnt from snapping bacon grease and the silicone floppy tongs wouldn't grip the bacon. I wound up using a fork.
-Wipes and a small vacuum. Being there for a week things get dirty and I wanted to clean up. There was a broom/dustpan, but those didn't work well when sweeping up bits of glass when a rootbeer bottle was dropped. I wished for Clorox wipes as well.
-Dimmer switches. The canned lighting is SUPER bright. With the lights on it is as bright as NOON. It was hard to get my body ready to sleep with such bright lights. I longed for dimmer switches.
