This is one part of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. A 16th-century fortress in one of the biggest cities in Russia. It's also another of my favorite sites in this country. Nizhny Novgorod is a very beautiful city, with many great churches. But this Kremlin really stands out. It was built between 1508-1515 and in 1949 underwent a restoration. You could spend a few hours here just walking and taking pictures :).

Where to stay in Volga

One of the jewels of Kazan! The new mosque connects the old Kazan Khanate with modern Russian and Islamic architecture, and serves to keep the memory of the original 16th century mosque alive. One of the best sites in all of Kazan, Tatarstan and Russia.

Kazan City Centre is well-liked for its museums and monuments. If you're hoping to get in some sightseeing, Central Market and Aleksandrovsky Passage are top spots, and you can jump on the metro at Ploshchad Tukaya Station or Kremlyovskaya Station to get around.
