We spent a month at Casa Manana with our two elementary school-aged children. We had spent the previous 30 days at a different property in the Bravos de Boston area and transitioning to Casa Manana was a very welcome change! The amazing views, breezes, and serenity absolutely make this place. In fact, we so fell in love with Vieques during our month at Casa Manana that we are in the process of purchasing our own home on the island!
The house is exactly as described and pictured. The only words of caution we would pass along are that there are NO views from the pool deck/lower level. The views from the top level are absolutely breathtaking and, if we owned the home, we would cut down the greenery growing up in front of the pool that totally blocks the view.
We were all tele-working and virtual schooling and we could all find nooks and crannies outside to sit individually and work peacefully, staring out at the Caribbean Sea.
The expansive grounds are beautiful with palm trees and flowers. Our dog had a blast racing around the large yard. We felt totally safe letting her run around freely, as the entire property is fenced in. There are three very large dogs across the fence next door and they did bark quite a lot at our dog but she had fun running back and forth along the fence with them.
We thought we would dislike the fact that the bedroom off the family room does not have a door (just curtains) but it was not a problem at all.
The beds are all very comfortable. The breezes and fans are more than sufficient for keeping the home cool. We did not miss A/C at all.
The kitchen is huge with pretty much everything you could possibly need. The cabinets and drawers are very old. The oven broke while we were there and apparently they were ordering a new one, so I’d assume there’s a brand new appliance now!
We had difficulties with the washing machine. The property manager, Aurelio, tried his best to help us with it but he was having trouble getting one that worked better. I think the place just needs a new one.
Drying racks would be incredibly useful. I echo a previous reviewer’s suggestions to invest in more comfortable beach chairs. I also did not love the pool loungers, though they look nice. They just weren’t that comfortable. The pool itself, however, was large and relaxing.
The location of the house is fantastic - sort of central to everything and quiet. Highly recommend this fantastic house and island!
