We have enjoyed our stay at Altstadt very much. The hotel is quirky as are the rooms and the artwork. Staff are excellent and nothing too much trouble. Very comfortable room and would not hesitate to recommend.

I stayed twice. The hotel is in a very good location close to all the action. Some rooms are way too small but the larger rooms are superb! Breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Wonderful hotel filled with interesting art. Comfortable king-sized bed (which I didn’t expect) & nice-sized room. Delicious breakfast with extensive choices: combination of buffet and made-to-order options. Extremely friendly, helpful staff (desk and cleaning people). Our room, with windows facing inner courtyard, was very quiet. We were sorry to leave!

Enjoyed the location close to the Museum Quarter. We parked our car in the MQ garage about a 15 minute walk from hotel. It was about a 10 minute walk to the Ringstrasse. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delightful. Room is small and sink was in the room instead of bathroom. Street noise is loud so had to keep windows closed at night.

The staff at Alstadt is incredible. Service is friendly, prompt and anticipitory. They offer a complimentary breakfast and absoloutely lovely Afternoon Tea complete with pianist. There is wonderful art installed throughout the property and a rooftop terrace for relaxation outdoors. A nice amenity in a city hotel. The hotel is quiet and the housekeeping staff remembers what guests like (extra coffee for the in-room Nespresso) and provide same. Would stay again without hesitation.

A little shopworn. Similarly priced rooms vary significantly in size. Mirror over vanity is poorly situated. Breakfast and afternoon tea were very nice. Easy walk to the Museum quarried and to buses.

The Altstadt is truly special and one of a kind. It’s like staying in your own private art museum. But it isn’t stuffy, not one bit. They serve a cake and candy tea each afternoon to their guests! There’s a secret roof terrace with snacks! The staff is absolutely top notch, the warmest and most helpful folks ever. They will give you fantastic recommendations for local restaurants and shops. And it’s remarkably quiet given that the hotel is less than a half mile west of the Museums Quartier and the Hofburg. PS the beds are perfect. Not too firm and not too soft. PPS Seriously the place is a treasure. The schatz kammer should be jealous.

Friendly staff and superb location

This was an amazing stay. My wife and I came for a short weekend vacation and loved every minute. The hotel is perfectly located with good food options all around (check out the Momo pizza place). It is close to public transport options and when we stayed it had two Christmas markets near by. The stuff is amazingly friendly, with contagious smiles and welcoming atmosphere. Lastly, a great breakfast was included with a variety of breads, cheese, hams, eggs and fruits. We will definitely come again

I loved this hotel and would return without hesitation. It’s nicely situated just outside the main tourist area but within an easy walk of major attractions. It’s also very close to a subway stop. The room was beautifully decorated, roomy, bright and airy. It had really high ceilings. And the shower was very good, though it did routinely leak onto the floor. That was the only problem and it was relatively minor. Breakfast was good though the service there was inconsistent. The first day a server told me the specials and took my order. The second day I had to chase someone down. I skipped breakfast the third day. Otherwise the service was excellent. The afternoon tea and cake in the salon was nice too.
