This has the potential to be a 5-star property, but it wasn't during our stay. We arrived at the house in the evening, very tired from our travels. It was after 10 pm EST (the time zone we were coming from), and we just wanted to go to bed. But when we got to the house, the furnace was turned OFF. The thermostat showed 12 degrees on the main floor, and it was much colder upstairs, probably closer to 8 or 9. I messaged the host, and he responded, "We can’t keep the furnace on all the time because we don’t know when guests will arrive. As you know, we don’t live there, so we can’t turn it on in advance for guests. You’ll need to turn it on when you arrive, and it will warm up shortly." You actually do know that guests were arriving today, because you took our money to reserve this date. It doesn't matter that you don't know what time we are arriving. We have it booked and paid for from 4 pm onwards. It's the host's responsibility to ensure it is in livable condition when guests arrive. Either go to the house and turn on the thermostat or install a remote one you can control from your phone. It took hours for the air, furniture, and floors to warm up. I was freezing the entire time.
Other easy improvements: the dark curtains in the primary bedroom are not the width of the window. The fan in the en suite is so loud that a fire alarm could go off, and we wouldn't hear it. The fan could be cleaned or on a separate switch from the light so that it could be turned off.
