Valtournenche is a charming ski resort town that sits nearly a mile (over 1,500 meters) above sea level in the Alps. Its many miles of white slopes and valleys offer enjoyment for both amateur and professional skiers. Look for the historical attractions in the town center, including a church that dates back to the 1400s. Outside of town, find scenic countryside trails, off-piste hikes and a deep ravine. The many different pistes are served by plenty of ski lifts.

Make your way to the Gouffre des Busserailles, a ravine carved over time by running water from the Marmore River. Lean over the edge and look down into the abyss.
The Valtournenche area remains white throughout the year, with the largest snowfall around April. Walk around the tranquil, serene region during the summer when there is less snow. Stroll through picturesque forests and spot rhododendrons in sprawling fields or go mountain biking around the rural setting.
Visit the 15th-century Sant’Antonio Church in the historic center. Its bell tower stands out above the flat landscape and the small buildings in the area. Admire the works of art and the small religious relics inside the church.
