Wow! Words don't do justice to describe what staying at Casa Lago meant for us. From the moment Pedro, our very gracious host, opened the gate to his property, we knew we were in for a very special stay. The love and work that Pedro has put in restoring the house after hurricane Maria is evident everywhere. The gardens are beautiful, and there are so many places to sit and relax, from the main floor terrace, to the ground level terrace, to the gazebo, to the fire pit seating, to the chairs by the lake. Everywhere you look, inside and outside the house, you see greenery and beauty. The place has a way of engaging all of your senses in ways that you may not have experienced before. Nights in particular are truly remarkable, with the cacophony of insects, frogs and birds making you feel like you are sleeping in the middle of the jungle. We tried to take advantage of everything the property offers - we prepared most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen, grilled in the charcoal BBQ, ate dinner at the gazebo, played dominoes in the downstairs terrace, and laid in the hammocks in the terrace and the gazebo. We also used the provided kayaks and went kayaking in the lake. Everyone in our party, from 92 yr old granpa, to our 11 yr. old son, had a great time. Even losing power for most of one day did not take away from our enjoyment of this enchanted place.
Pedro is an outstanding host. He was very responsive during our entire stay, and worked very hard to minimize the impact of the power outage on us. Our only regret was having to leave, but we left with wonderful memories, and a strong desire to return soon.
