Our two families of four stayed here for eight nights that included Christmas 2019. The house is both beautiful and comfortable and is located in a little gated oasis called Taita Wasi. I highly recommend this house for the following reasons:
1. Staying in Uruabamba gives you a real taste of Peru in the Sacred Valley. The town has few tourists, but all of the amenities you could want including some very good restaurants.
2. Flora: She is there daily to clean the house and make breakfast for your whole crew. She was great and her breakfasts are excellent.
3. The owner's mini van: Renting a car in Cusco is both expensive and risky (once you see how the locals drive!) but driving in the Sacred Valley is easy. This is the one property that has this unique and useful feature. We did not use it every day, but on the days we used it, the car gave us the freedom to do whatever we wanted. On our last day we used it to spend the day in Ollaytatambo without having guides or taxis. Warning to US citizens who have only driven cars with automatic transmissions - this is a manual transmission car, like most of the cars in Peru.
4. Our crew decided on the two-day Machu Picchu tour with one day on the Inca Trail. It made this house a great base of operation for that tour and to see the other attractions in the Sacred Valley as well.
As a aside: I do recommend the two-day MP option because it give your more time to experience other things rather than committing 4-5 days just for MP. If you want more trail time there are plenty of options.
Finally, Bruno, the owner, was great to work with and addressed our every need including arranging for transportation from and back to Cusco. We thank him for offering his home to us!
