Old but nice
Hotel is the oldest in the area and looks to have renovated. If you are looking to stay in a very traditional Japanese Ryokan (Inn), this place is nice - right down to the paper thin walls. Food - was amazing.
Run down Ryokan with high potential with a bit of a face lift
Natural Onsen with a little garden was the highlight, and so was the location and the little village around
Very traditional ryokan, 10min walk from the station. Good onsen, lovely staff (0 English spoken) and good food overall but everything is in serious need of renovation, a thorough cleaning (dust, spider webs) and a better service (bins not emptied, limited toiletries, no mirror in the room). Nice experience but not worth the price.
It was a very traditional Japanese experience, which is exactly what I wanted. I really enjoyed my stay. The staff did not speak much English (hardly any), but were very helpful and friendly. They had two small hot springs baths, one for men and one for women, which would be switched once or twice a day. One of them has an outside bath as well.
I strongly recommend getting the room with both breakfast and dinner included, so that you get the full onsen experience.
