  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

Breakfast looking over the lake

A good hotel, nice clean room with aircon, TV etc. Breakfast is provided across from the hotel entrance in a restaurant overlooking the lake. A lovely setting. The breakfast was good, as was the evening meal with lots of couples eating in.No problem with the location, quiet area with transport easily obtainable. All in all excellent value for what we paid.

The stay was pretty relaxing. Food is mediocre but location beats everything. Their restaurant by the side of Lake Fatehsagar has nice ambience. All the major attractions are closely. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Location is very good. Property is not maintained at all . Lack of hot water in the morning. It is definitely not a Four star property by any imagination. Staff was friendly but without any authority. Definitely overpriced.

The place was well done and had the look which it showed on websites. Place was very well located and the view from the rooms was really pretty. You could see the magnificent view of Fateh Sagar lake from terrace but not from the deluxe room. Service was not slow in the start but it became speedy the day after. However on the last night we faced a power outage in our room only and they had no way out. In crisis they sfihted to a supposedly upscale deluxe room which was even more pathetic than ours. The bathroom was shady, amenities, wash basin taps not working properly, leakage was there but since it was our last night we somehow managed but service was really pathetic and we were not even compensated properly. The breakfast included was really good on the contrary at their high end restro just across the road. The view was amazing, staff was courteous and provided fresh food as asked. Overall a good experience but the facilities at the hotel needs upgrade considering the price point they put for their deluxe and luxury rooms.

I was very confused about my choice before i arrived at this property, the rooms, view, hospitality and food all were excellent. We visited udaipur on a short relaxation trip and this lake view hotel has given us all what we expected from this trip.. i 100% recommend this hotel as a budget yet a very nice property..

Charming and with Lakeside Tranquility

Situated just across the street from the beautiful Udaipur lake and about 2km from Old Udaipur. The Ram Pratap Palace hotel provided me with great service and lodging. I stayed from Nov 19 to Nov 22. I give this hotel a 5 star overall rating. check in/introduction very nice and simple. Staff are all very pleasant and welcoming and polite. In fact I wanted a better view of the lake and reception had no problem giving me a larger room and with better view-at same price. Hotel is quiet and yet not overly large but also stately. There are several nice common areas in which to relax and of course the beautiful grounds on the lake which guests have complete access to. Room nicely and simply decorated and bed very comfortable. Bathroom very clean. Hotel secure. Wifi was adequate and no problem with TV. I love Star India. The breakfast in the morning had plenty of food, delicious in which to choose from both Indian and Western. At night the restaurant is very nice serving a chicken curry which is wonderful. Udaipur Locals and other tourists eat there also. In all, I loved Udaipur the old city as well as the lake and surrounding hills. The Ram Pratap Palace has all one would require in terms of a several night stay and at a reasonable price. I will definitely return to this hotel.

The view from the hotel is excellent and a wonderful breakfast was provided. However the service requires improvement as the room is not cleaned daily and not replenished. Location wise it is good to stay here.

Great location and value.

This hotel is in a great location, overlooking the northern lake (well worth a walk along). Describing itself as a budget hotel is probably a mistake on their part, on balance, once I had settled in, I felt it was better than that. Udaipur is popular with Indian tourists and can be expensive for accommodation and this hotel fills a nice gap between the very high end and the budget hotels. A reasonable walk into Udaipur once you have found the route but there are plenty of auto rickshaws if you want. Restaurant overlooks the lake, has a good menu, great service and fantastic views.

An excellent experience by lakeside.

Our stay at hotel Rampratap Palace was a wonderful experience . The best part was the beautiful lake view from the hotel . Although a small hotel, it's service & quality was no less than a 4 star hotel. Dinner at their lakeside restaurant was another memorable experience. We were amazed at the speedy service on the day we ordered room service dinner . Breakfast too was sumptous. The staff was extremely courteous & helpful. They gave us some good tips for sightseeing too & responded promptly to all our requests. I would highly recommend this hotel

Great Location

This hotel is located and has good lake views. Rooms and cleanliness were ok and could definitely be better. Staff did just enough without ever trying to be of help. It’s not like they were not doing their job but queries and requests were generally was not met with any enthusiastic response. Breakfast spread was ok and the restaurant food was good though with limited menu.

How do Indian hotels get their ratings? This is definately not a 4 star or even a 3 star hotel. It is situated out of the main city, but is on a noisy road with cars honking all night. We booked a room with balcony through hotels.com. We were given a back facing room which had a locked interleading door. Much to our shock, there were guests on the other side of the door, who kept the TV going all night. There was a gap under the door, so their room light shone from under the door. The internet server was down most of the time, the A/C was old and noisy as was the ceiling fan. We had no tea/coffee making facilities, no safe, no water, no mini-bar.

Excellent property for that price.

Lake view rooms, heritage property in real sense. Very convinient lcation and excellent restraunt of the hotel. Highly reccomended. Only issue was lack of any other amenities like kidsmplay area, swimming pool etc, which considering the price is not relevant.

The wash room in this hotel has the lights inside, therefore one can imagine. Again there were no floor mats in the wash room , anytie you go in , you have to wet your feet. what else to say.

Exotic hotel in lovely location, service unpretentious, no frills, no tea making facilities provided. Basic services at reception. Excellent restaurant with romantic setting alongside lake. A very good midrange hotel we would recommend it.

Toller Ausblick am ruhigen See

Das Hotel hat wirklich einen super Ausblick auf den See und liegt nicht im Mittelpunkt des Touristenzentrums. Es sind aber auch nur 10 Minuten mit der Rikshaw bis zu allen wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten. An der Sauberkeit gab es nichts auszusetzen, das Zimmer wurde täglich gereinigt und neu Bestückt. Das Frühstück ist klein und fein und völlig ausreichend.
