First the good. The hotel’s architecture is beautiful from the outside. It features beautiful views of the water and of Tromsø.
The staff is excellent. Cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable about transportation options, tourist activities and restaurant recommendations.
The breakfast buffet is outstanding. It features every breakfast option you could hope for and the food is kept very fresh.
The sky bar is wonderful with breathtaking 360° views and a friendly bar staff.
My complaint. My “superior room,” should have been described as, “inferior.” The hotel’s sharp angles leads to weirdly shaped rooms. Mine was wedge shaped. More than half the square footage was simply unusable. I had nowhere to put my suitcase. I left it on the floor by the door and slid it out of the way when I needed to leave.
I told the front desk, and they seemed to acknowledge the problem but the hotel was sold out and there were no other rooms available. Had I known this would be my room, I’d of gone elsewhere. The only way I’d recommend this property is if they guarantee you a non-wedge room. Honestly, it’s claustrophobia inducing.
The pic below is taken from the bed. The bathroom is behind the bed.
