Great value, mostly met expectations

We encountered a few maintenance-related issues during our stay. I'm going to message the property manager separately. The beds not being made was unexpected, but we should have read the reviews more carefully and would have known. Amenities like just enough sheets, towels, etc., were okay; honestly, we didn't need more. It was just a little unusual. As we return annually to the area, we suspect that this property compares well with other options in the price range. It's worth noting that, at least when we booked, the price for anything of similar size was a bit higher. I attempted to book one other just as suitable for our needs—only to have the property manager/owner not confirm the reservation. I haven't had that experience on VRBO before. So, we very much appreciated the cost and would return especially with confidence if we knew some of the nagging maintenance items were addressed. *Note that the site wouldn't let me leave "n/a" in the category "communication with the property manager." We didn't really communicate with them, and only now am I sending a short list of aforementioned repairs/maintenance for them to address.

More for summer

I think summer would be fun for a family. Less then 48 hours no coffee cold at night no extra blankets no soap, A little disappointed for birthday weekend.

Stay at the lake

Good location, could use some updating. It would have been nice to have the many light switches labeled to avoid confusion! Many, many doors. A lot of stairs. Beds where very uncomfortable. Kayaks were impossible to use as there was no easy entry point.

Nice Lake view

My sisters and I were disappointed in some of the aspects of this cottage. Lacked in cleanliness. { thick dust on over head fan in living room, cobwebs on screens) When we arrived, surprised to see that our beds were not made, sheets were laying on end of the beds, and sheets were not the greatest, nor the dirty pillows. One queen bed upstairs did not even have a fitted sheet, instead, two flat sheets. Not enough toilet paper, each couple was given 2 rolls for 5 night stay. The bath towels were really old also, no bath mat downstairs. views of the lake were nice, Kitchen was sufficient, The deck could certainly use a good power washing. Just felt dirty. And the STEPS, they are horrendous both in front of the house and behind the house. Might be ok for young people and families, but definitely if you have any mobility problems, they are awful. Colleen had told me that they would be fine for my 80 and 75 year old sisters! NOT! Needless to say, we will not be going back to this cottage.

Plenty of room

We enjoyed our week with our children and grandchild. We had plenty of room and the view of the lake was great. We kayaked several times and even floated on the cute little lake. We appreciated the large kitchen table for meals. The kitchen is dated. The deck needs a power washing.

good location if playing in traverse city but dont want to stay in town. House is nice and clean three bathrooms a plus as well as firepit and grill with nice backyard deck overlooking lake would stay there again

pretty view but that's it

Dock was not in and property manager stated the reason was that it was too cold. We could not access the water well without the dock in. Neighbors did have swim rafts and docks in place during our visit. I live on a lake and the temp of the water should not be an issue when putting a dock in, unless there is ice, so that was a poor excuse. The property manager made no effort to address this. Additionaly, the kayaks listed for use were partially submerged in the lake and we had to pull them out and empty them to be able to utilize the boats. Once this was done, I discovered that there were no paddles to use. So my family rented a home on a lake to be able to fish and kayak and then we were not be able to do this as no dock was in place and the kayaks were not usable without the paddles. Furthermore, the listing stated that a row boat was available, but this is not true. There was no rowboat to utilize. So again, we could not access the water in the manner expected.

Family time reconnecting

Beautiful home, there were a couple issues, that the property owner took care of promptly..would absolutely rent again. There was plenty of room for everyone. Loved this home.

We Enjoyed It!

Nice little spot on the lake! Location just outside Traverse City, and not too far away from the wineries we traveled to. Very quit and nice neighborhood - would definitely stay here again.

Great space, needs some TLC

This home has plenty of room for three adult couples to either spread out or to gather together. The setting was very quiet and peaceful, and the home was well-stocked. However, it needs some updating and TLC. There needs to be outdoor lighting walking from the car down a steep winding path to the door. Motion lighting was only activated once you were on the porch. The beds were not the most comfortable, light bulbs needed to be replaced, a drawer in the kitchen was broken, the sliding door to the patio was broken, with the screen just sitting next to it, the chairs outside needed to be cleaned, the grill had no propane, etc. The house has a ton of potential and clearly the build-out downstairs was newer. As a rental, it's almost there-- a weekend of repairs, some paint, lighting and new beds and this place would really check all the boxes.

August 2022 Fishing Trip

Nice bedroom and living space in lower level. Main level had bedroom with queen size bed and en suite bathroom. Third bedroom had 2 single beds with bathroom across the hall. We used the firepit one night. House is in a quiet location and drive into main area of Traverse City took about 20 minutes.

More than 5 Stars!

Very accurate vrbo page for this house. Colleen has done a great job maintaining the house. The neighborhood is extremely quiet which was great for us coming from city life. Enjoyed the kayaks and fishing off the pier. Caught plenty of bass & bluegill and the giant turtles paid a few visits to us right under the pier. TC is just a few minutes away which was very convenient. I had to ask Colleen a question about something and she got right back to me within minutes. Fantastic experience. Not our 1st time to the area but the next time we get back this will be the 1st house we search for! Thanks for a great week.

Week of 7/17 Stay

We truly enjoyed our week at this home on George Lake. Inside appeared to be very clean and beautifully furnished and decorated. Kitchen had everything we would need to cook and serve our meals. Beds were very comfortable. Only real disappointment was discovering that the outdoor grill was rusting out and being held upright by old logs. So I didn't get to use it as we didn't feel it was safe. Also thinks that the deck areas could use some TLC. Other than that we had a wonderful week at this property.

Memorial Day Race Weekend

We have stayed in TC multiple times. This by far is one of the top homes that we have stayed at. I ran the Bayshore Half Marathon and was concerned about how far to stay from the town. It was only about 20 min and was perfect to be close but not to close to downtown. My 70 year old mom came with us so the upstairs was nice for her while the four of us (2 kids) hung out more downstairs. Very roomy house. The view from the patio is AMAZING!!! Thank you for letting us stay at your home. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Great place

The house was just perfect. Very clean and had everything you need. Only disappointed that there wasn't a rowboat like the listing stayed as we had planned to fish on the lake Outdoor area and grill needs some seasonal maintenance but didn't hinder our stay .

Great property on small lake

Great property, We were staying there for the iceman bike race with family so didn’t use much of the outdoor deck and fire pit but looks wonderful. Owner is extremely responsive to questions and instructions. Had a problem with the tv and sent someone right away to fix in plenty of time for football

If you're looking for a quiet location to unwind, this is the place! The accommodations were great. We stayed for a weekend but wish we had more time to spend here. We will definitely consider this location for a longer stay next time.

Relaxing and Peaceful!

We took full advantage of the peace and quiet on this non sports lake! Lots of fishing and kayaking and swimming not to be disturbed by motor boats. The piece of property felt like we were living in the trees! The steps to get up and down to the lake were a lot to handle even for us adults. The interior was one of the cleanest VRBO homes we have ever seen! We were able to cook meals for the family in the fully equipped kitchen and the high quality dishware was much appreciated! Thanks for a great Fourth of July in Traverse City!

Nice stay

This little lake house was perfect for our group! House was very clean and had all the kitchen amenities needed. I would recommend the renter providing extra trash bags or alerting the guests that they need to bring their own along with the message of needing toiletries. 2 trash bags for 7 people and 3 nights was not enough and my messages inquiring about if those were in the home somewhere were not responded to.

Traverse City!

Very nice, spacious property! We had a great time in Traverse City. The view to Lake George is beautiful. My husband was able to cast his fishing pole and caught a few large mouth bass. That made him very happy!
