Good selection again today at Sandbach Flashes. Not in this picture but Yellow-Legged Gull, Dunlin and Bar-Tailed Godwit were yearly firsts with Pintail and Little Grebe Lifetime Firsts. Not all very clear but with the Heron can be seen Shelduck, Coot, Moorhen, Black-headed Gulls, Snipe, Wigeon, Teal, Cormorant and Great Black-backed Gulls of various ages, (I think). Lapwings, Canada Geese, Greylag Geese, Mallards and Redshank added to the tally with plenty of small birds seen as well. Long-tailed Tits, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Goldfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Reed Bunting, Blackbird, Chaffinch, Fieldfare, Robin and Sparrows. Last but not least Magpie, Crow and Rook repesented the Corvidae. The Salt Pan, (pictured), Elton Hall Flash and Fields Farm Flash, Elton, Sandbach, Cheshire. Sandbach Flashes are designated SSSI.
A pair of them were spotted on flooded ground to the right of Pump House Flash at Elton. 14/02/2017 Sandbach Flashes SSSI, Cheshire
