Lying beneath Petka Hill, a short distance from the old town of Dubrovnik is Lapad Beach. It is one of several beaches that make up the Lapad Peninsula, a beautiful bay area where you can take part in watersports, relax on the sand and go for seaside walks along the promenade.

Pile Gate is the main entrance to Dubrovnik’s old town and is situated on its western wall. For many visitors, the portal is their first encounter with the neighborhood’s gorgeous medieval architecture.

Gruž Harbour is the main maritime entrance to Dubrovnik, a busy port for yachts, ferries and cruise ships. Near the harbor is the Dubrovnik Bus Terminal where services will take you to the Old Town, a 10-minute trip, and the outer suburbs. The large dock sits in a sheltered bay approximately 1.4 miles (2 kilometers) from Dubrovnik’s Old Town.

Break off from your sightseeing adventures for a few hours of relaxation at Banje, Dubrovnik’s most famous beach. This scenic stretch of sand and pebbles is situated right outside the walls of the Old Town and has excellent views to Lokrum Island and Dubrovnik’s old port. You may even spot a celebrity here as this beach is known to attract the rich and famous.

The Walls of Dubrovnik (Dubrovačke gradske zidine) are defensive ramparts that encircle much of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Marvel at this intricate system of armory emplacements, bastions, castles and gateways built during the Middle Ages. The walls stretch for almost 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) and range from 5 to 20 feet (1.5 to 6 meters) in thickness. In popular culture, the setting has been used as a filming location for the television series Game of Thrones.

Copacabana Beach is an attractive half-moon shaped expanse of pebbles and concrete in Dubrovnik’s Lapad Peninsula. It is one of the longest beaches in the city, known for its diverse family-friendly activities and scenic vistas.

Just off the coast of Dubrovnik is the densely forested Lokrum Island, a fascinating place of great natural beauty. Visit to hike among pine trees, explore historical buildings and to swim in secluded coves. With no cars or overnight visitors permitted, this island makes for a relaxing day-trip.
