Enjoy an authentic Mediterranean seaside ambiance at Burriana Beach (Playa Burriana). This is Nerja’s largest and busiest beach, a place adored by both locals and tourists. Come to Burriana Beach to swim in the warm water and have fun trying various aquatic activities. Marvel at the beautiful coastal scenery and dine, drink and shop along the waterfront esplanade.

The Balcón de Europa (Balcony of Europe) is both one of Nerja’s most recognizable landmarks and a popular gathering place. Visit this terrace and observation deck to enjoy uninterrupted views of the town’s coastline, its mountain backdrop and picturesque sunsets. Spot statues and historical relics, be entertained by street performers and attend open-air live music performances.

Historic buildings, pavement café’s and a position in the heart of the old city make Plaza Nueva a popular place for visitors and locals alike. The name may translate as “New Plaza” but the square is in fact one of the oldest in the city. It was built in the 16th century to cover up part of the River Darro and create more space.

Granada Cathedral is also known as the Cathedral of Santa María de la Encarnación and is considered a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Walk under the magnificent dome and admire the statues, paintings and chapels before visiting the crypt where two of Spain’s best-loved monarchs lay at eternal rest.

Experience the magnificence of nature and a true visual treat at Nerja Caves (Cuevas de Nerja). Walk amid enormous, naturally formed chambers to discover astonishing rock formations, ever-changing colors and age-old artwork. Nerja Caves is a complex of three cave galleries, one of which is open to the public. Time your visit to coincide with performances of dance, opera and symphony orchestras in the surprisingly spacious underground auditorium.
