Amazing hotel with an amazing view. Everything about this hotel is beautiful, super clean and very good service. Location is very good too.

I stayed only two days at this hotel, and honestly I thanked God it wasn’t longer. The hotel is beautiful and well located, but that means little when the experience doesn’t meet basic expectations. I was assigned a room across the street, in the parking area. Although the room itself is nice, I felt unsafe since that area has open access to anyone at any time. This made it very difficult to relax or rest. The sleeping experience was one of the worst I’ve had in a hotel in a long time. From the first night, the pillow was extremely uncomfortable, with poor support and uneven filling. I requested two additional pillows through room service, but they were even worse. The fitted sheet was also in very poor condition, covered in pilling, which felt unpleasant. I ended up removing it and using only the top cover. The next day, the virtual assistant (Ivy) asked about my stay. I reported the issues with both the sheets and the pillows. They only addressed the sheets, saying they would replace them, but they never did; they simply made the bed without changing them, as everything looked the same that night. There was no response regarding the pillows, which were the main issue. Also, for a hotel at this price point, housekeeping is only provided upon request, which is not ideal. The second night, I barely slept a few hours. I was relieved to leave that same day.

This is a very old, historic hotel so I came to it with some skepticism. I had some family visiting from the East Coast and wanted to spend a few nights in San Francisco and usually stay in the large chain hotels. I wanted to do something out of the ordinary and this hotel looked very cool. I noticed it was built in 1908 and started to wonder about amenities and overall upkeep. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the property, rooms, breakfast area and the butterfly bar. We went with suites and I they were very spacious and very well appointed. There was a fireplace and a portable A/C unit we never needed. The breakfast in the dining room was pleasant. It's better than continental, and they seem to keep it well stocked and at the proper temperatures. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the cleaning staff were on top of things. Overall I would recommend this hotel to people who want an authentic old world experience. The hotel is about 2 blocks from Japan Town and that's where we parked for $30.00 a day.
