Quick overnight stay in a Queen room for business - will be back again to stay longer.
Thank you to Damien (lovely breakfast) and Ree for your hospitality- such a lovely place to be.
We loved that the property is heritage listed, the rooms are styled in keeping with the period, they are large and very comfortable. The bathroom is very clean. Ou hostess Ree was fabulous and very welcoming. The location is great. We’ll definitely stay again.

This is a lovely, old B& B with much character. The hosts are gracious, friendly and helpful. The front room (room where you can relax, read, etc) is tastefully decorated suited to the age of the house. Music for relaxation is piped into this room. The breakfast provides a good range of healthy options. This is a self service (except for coffee and tea) breakfast. While hard boiled eggs are available, I would have appreciated being served something other than self serve - e.g. pancakes or choice eggs
The rooms (we stayed in 2 different rooms) are not as tastefully decorated like the reception room. While the furniture is adequate, it would be nice if there were a few pieces that reflected the charm of this old house. This is an old house but some of the maintenance has not been kept up. Taps drip. The caulking in tub and shower is missing in spots and black in others. This should not have any impact on your stay but I thought knowing this in advance may help you with your choice
There are pluses and negatives about the location. This is a quiet location out of the downtown area. Dining is very close and you have a wide range of choices. You can also choose from a wide range of takeouts. I recommend that you are good at walking if you stay here or be prepared to take taxis. It takes 30 - 40 minutes to walk to the quay and opera house. Coming back, you have to climb 106 steps. We took a taxi a couple of time (about $16 per trip)
The Simpson is located in a quiet street in Potts Point and has an elegance about it that cant be found in a modern hotel. The decor is superbly interesting and my room and bed were perfectly comfortable. The care and hospitality extended by Keith was quite refreshing and the breakfast room was divine. Lovely experience all round
This simple little hotel is in a great location, their communication prior to our arrival was good and they were kind enough to let us check in early as we arrived in the morning long haul from England.
The WIFI was very poor which was disappointing and difficult for forward planning and communication with our friends and family.
We were also a little disappointed by the staff's lack of provision for an early breakfast as we left for an early flight at 7am.
Fabulous B&B style accommodation in Potts Point. We had a fantastic, spacious room with a balcony. The bathroom was well appointed and had everything you’d need. Restaurants are about 50m away and the main shopping thoroughfare just around the corner but the area of the Hotel is very quiet.
Walkable to Sydney CBD. Highly recommend
The property was so close to all facilities including coffee shops, train station and not too far from hospital to walk
Also not far to walk to city or buses going there
Breakfast excellent and staff friendly and helpful
Nothing was too much trouble
Great shower, comfortable bed, attractive public areas for relaxing, delicious breakfast especially the stewed rhubarb. Damien was polite and friendly. I wish I could give this hotel a higher rating but being chastised by Ree for using the code to enter instead of ringing the bell was not a good start. She was also abrupt with the housemaid and questioned my partners issue with the intercom. I wish we'd met Keith instead, his friendly email exchanges had me expecting a friendlier welcome.
A terrific location, an iconic building, fabulous local street scape, excellent restaurants close by, convenient to the city, warm and welcoming hosts...what's not to love about Simpsons? We had 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope to return.
I love the history of Simpson Of Potts Point. We met great people and the staff was so helpful and accommodating. It was in a perfect location to a lot of sightseeing, restaurants, and shopping.
The house has been beautifully restored into a hotel with a wonderful formal area, elegant rooms and a charming breakfast room.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Very kind staff, nice bed and clean room. Some of the furniture, doors/windows weren’t in good condition. Would expect better maintenance at this price. Location is quite good, nothing specifically special around the area.
Beautiful B&B built in the 1800's. A lovely place to stay and Ree was very informatitive about things to do, places to go and where to dine. For a first time in Sydney staying here was a great choice.
We loved the historic charm of this Victorian family run hotel. We were welcomed warmly and given an orientation to the hotel and neighbourhood. At breakfast we were offered assistance with planning our sightseeing. All expectations were met or exceeded
The whole of the experience of staying here was unique. A beautiful boutique hotel in the middle of the city. The rooms were large and spacious and it all had the feeling of Edwardian opulence.
