My wife and I booked this cabin last minute for a weekend in Big Bear, and while I knew the cancellation policy was strict, I honestly wasn't expecting the place to be this disappointing.
The pictures made it look like a cute, cozy mountain getaway, but that wasn't what we walked into. The bedroom was dusty, the bathroom had dirt streaks and stains in the toilet, and there were cobwebs throughout the cabin. It had a stale, dusty smell and just didn't feel like it had been properly cleaned. We were already talking about finding somewhere else to stay.
Unfortunately, a family medical emergency came up and we had to leave after only a few hours, despite paying for the whole weekend. I wasn't demanding a refund or expecting them to break their policy. I simply asked whether a credit or voucher toward a future stay might be possible. Instead, I was told, "Even if a family member died, we would not be able to issue you a refund." I understand policies, but that's a pretty awful way to speak to someone dealing with an emergency.
What bothered me just as much was the lack of communication. I kept having to follow up after being told someone would get back to me, and nobody seemed interested in resolving anything.
To be fair, check-in was easy and the price was cheap. But between the misleading photos, cleanliness issues, and how management handled everything, I left feeling completely let down. I wouldn't stay here again or book another property with this company.
