「Great location, but the hotel desperately needs updating. The staff were not very welcoming, they looked disinterested and not very helpful. Our room had an unpleasant smell when we walked in. The floorboards in the room above us constantly squeaked when people walked about which disturbed our sleep. The carpet throughout the hotel looked dirty with stains on it, which provided unpleasant and unwelcoming appearance. Garden and the plants were not maintained and looked very unkempt. 「The Derwent Hotel itself was good and the hotel receptionist helped a lot when we had an issue with the Spa service. We went for my friend's birthday stayed on the Saturday night, had a great time and booked a surprise treatment for the Sunday morning, when she went down for the treatment it was not on their system and the receptionist was abrupt to my friend and asked if she had the right date, I went and showed all the information ( emails, when I phoned and the money that had been taken from...

「Had a lovely night away. Room was clean and nice to have a fridge with fresh milk for coffee etc. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. Outside areas are great for relaxing and nice to have an outside pool. In a quiet area but within walking distance to the beach, train station and town. Great hosts. Would definitely recommend.
