A very unique, two-level summer home in Oikismos Ligoneri on the island of Spetses, 219 was recently renovated by its owner, Art Director, Nikos Bogdanos (nibo). The house retains its original open patio (the only house in Oikismos that still has an patio with a sunroof to allow for light). With its large openings and manually operated tents, the house is naturally bright, airy and cool. Situated at the very top of Oikismos, a private community whose 220 houses are nested on a hill among pine trees, 219 has a great view across the sea to the mountains of the Peloponnese and a spectacular sunset and magic hour view. It is minimally decorated with all the amenities that make a stay comfortable and thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail that makes one feel at home.
Oikismos is situated in Ligoneri which is 2.5 km to the north-west of the port of Dapia. It has a small supermarket that doubles as a café in its central square, a playground for toddlers and children, a ping pong table, a basketball court and a library with books and a selection of board games (in the making). Ligoneri beach, one of the island’s best beaches, is 500 m. from 219, down a shady path through the forest (a steep climb on the way back).
At Easter and during the summer months there is a regular bus service between Oikismos and the port of Dapia, with five bus-stops within its boundaries and several more along the way. Apart from the bus and regular taxis, especially for off-season visitors, renting a motorbike, scooter or electric bike is recommended.
The house is on two levels and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. On the upper level is the kitchen with a mini refrigerator, a ceramic cook top and oven and the appliances and utensils necessary to prepare breakfast or cook a full meal. Outside the kitchen is the patio with a fitted shower to rinse off after your swim. Across the patio is the living room with two beds-sofas (80x200cm), each with its own fan, coffee-table, dining table and chairs, Bluetooth music system and a stand-alone cooler fan. The balcony has its own dining table and deck chairs.
On the lower level is the bathroom (with shower), a corridor with a large wardrobe which incorporates the washing machine (6 kg) and a second mini fridge and plenty of room for the guest's personal items and clothes. The bedroom has a king-size bed, a ceiling fan, a 55' TV set, an air condition unit (as well as individual fans for each bed side), an extra, single, bed (70x200cm) and a smaller balcony with confortable seating for two.
The two levels are connected via a staircase with two sets of seven steps each; the lower half doesn’t have a handrail but it has walls on both sides. The house sleeps ideally, 2 adults with 2 children but it has a fifth bed to accomodate up to five persons (up to 3 in the bedroom and 2 in the living room). The independent kitchen and the two balconies mean that early risers can prepare and have breakfast without disturbing those still asleep in the living room.
