Le Papillon on the beach
Le Papillon enjoys one of the best locations on St. Martin, with many wonderful restaurants nearby and a beach that is close to private and ideal for long walks.
Overlooking the entire Simpson Bay beach, the comfortable 2150 sq. feet apartment is equipped with everything a visitor might need. The long list of our luxurious amenities is shown below.
Guests are welcome with a drink. Selection of drinks can be found in the fridge and in our free mini bar.
A great selection of restaurants can be found within convenient walking distance. To name a few: Skip Jack - local fisherman's restaurant; Bamboo - amazing sushi and more; Top Carrot - vegetarian and healthy meals; Avantika - very elegant place with Thai cuisine; Sale & Pepe - great Italian place; Toppers - American cuisine; Yacht Club - a great place to watch boats coming into lagoon and drink; Pizza Italy - another Italian cuisine; Palapa Grill - known for great steaks and more; Atlantico - an amazing bakery Some restaurants can even be accessed without putting your shoes on. That includes Karakter, Mary's boon and El Zafiro. They can be enjoyed right on the beach.
The building itself was finished in 2014 after a few years of planning. It was designed and built by a doctor who owned the property. The building is so well made that even with hurricane Irma we had minimal damage. We had lots of decorative damages but luckily nothing major.
Simpson Bay Area is a good place to be. It is a nice combination of tourism and local culture. It used to be a fisherman's village and it still holds some of that charm. It is easy to walk to restaurants and shops so people do not need to rent a car to go to places. But at the same time when you are in the apartment or on the beach you are completely away from any outside world.

Family of 4 with a 7 day stay. Absolutely loved every second. Very easy beach access and wow what a view. Great location to restaurants. Communication was very good and the additional boat trip was so worth it. Would stay here again for sure.
Excellent place to stay. Beautiful property inside and out. Pretty much your own private beach. Communications with owner were answered promptly. We drank our morning coffee on the beautiful terrance overlooking the beach. We will definitely go to this place again.
We had a wonderful stay at Le Papillon. The apartment was beatiful, spacious and impeccably decorated. The incredible porch ran the whole length of the apartment and looked right out onto Simpson Bay, the beach, the boats and the sunsets. The private steps down to the beach were an added bonus. Simona was a great host. We had one snafu with a grocery order that she jumped in and resolved in less than a day. We can't recommend this place enough!
The location and rental were beautiful and exactly as pictured! Easy walking to fun restaurants like Mary Boon and Buccaneers. The deck and view were fantastic and Simpson Beach was nice and quiet.
The condo was right on the beach and the area was very practical for just walking to restaurants. The parking area was very safe & protected for our rental. The view was spectacular! Everything was to our liking. We got to relax…the most important requirement.
This a fabulous place to stay on St. Martin. The apartment is beautiful, clean, well stocked and steps from one of the best beaches on the island. Cafes and restaurants are easily walkable.Simona is a great host. We had two small issues that we texted her about and they were resolved within a couple of hours. She is very knowledgable about the island and has great suggestions.

The pictures don’t do the condo justice. Everything was immaculate and Simona was a pleasure to deal with. The building is super secure, the location perfect, the views to die for and the beds absolutely amazing (seriously where can one purchase these mattresses). Everything one could need is provided and this truly was a great place to call home while on island. I will definitely return again to this beautiful home!!
We stayed in this property for one week in April 2025. There were four of us, two adult adults and two teenagers. There was plenty of space for everybody. This rental was amazing. Pictures are accurate, but don’t do the place justice as the view is fantastic. And having the beach outside of your door is just chef’s kiss. Arrival and departure instructions were spot on. The property manager was very easy to connect with. The property was also very convenient to the main airport. The property felt very safe and secure. The elevator was super helpful as the entry was on the third floor. There was ample safe parking (consider renting a small vehicle as the parking lot is small but adequate). Property is walkable to some fantastic restaurants and a small convenience store. We would definitely rent here again.
My husband & I and our friends stayed at Le Papillon. It was in a perfect location and the pictures are exactly how the condo looks. The property manager Simona, was very pleasant and helped us when needed. It’s a perfect distance from the airport where we could see the planes come into Maho beach. It was also very nice to have drinks in the fridge when we arrived. They also let us take a look at the penthouse which we just might use our next visit! The ocean was a bit rough so we didn’t get to utilize the kayaks but those, and beach chairs, are available for use. The elevator wasn’t working the week we were there but being in the 3rd floor it helped work off all the amazing food we had on the island. We will definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful up-to date condo.
We are yet to be disappointed it is great unit. We love breakfast on the balcony. The close proximity to all of our favorite places to eat and shop. Best of all this beach is the little hidden gem of St. Maarten. Clearwater and shade from the palm trees.

This property was amazing. The apartment has everything you may need and what you see in the photos is what you can expect. It is in a safe location and has wonderful views. Would definitely stay at this property again.
The property is located right in the beach and walking distance to many amenities. The property is exactly as shown on photos. Simona, property manager and Lorraine, housekeeper, always available to answer queries. We truly enjoyed our stay. The only suggestion I would make is the installation of a ceiling fan on the terrace as it can get real warm with the afternoon sun.

Everything that you would need is in this condo unit. Great location great beach front great patio. The beds were very comfortable the bathrooms were very nice great rain shower head. We intend on coming back and staying in this unit. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. But now we found our new spot on a great island. We could not be more thrilled with the location. We spent much less time in the car than other years. Do everything that we needed was a short trip instead of a long trip.
This place is absolutely perfect! If you have any hesitation, don't. The view, the terrace, the location, the comfort and usability of the space, and the bed- so, so, so comfortable. You can also walk straight down a staircase directly from your terrace to the beach. We walked to restaurants most days and felt safe doing so, but we also had a rental car to see the island. You have a designated parking spot in a gated space, if safety is a concern for you. Absolutely loved our stay and communication with the owner was awesome!
I can not say enough about my stay at Le Papillon. In fact I extended it for 2 more weeks than I had originally planned. The condo is well appointed, and had everything I needed. I spend most of the time outside on the deck starting with my morning tea and ending watching the sunset. It was very conveniently located to Mary's Boon and Karakter beach bars. I only had to drive occasionally during my stay there.
When I return, I will definitely stay there again.
Rented the attached two bedroom and 3 bedroom villas together for a group of 8. Had a wonderful time. Even better in person than in pictures. Simona was easy to communicate with and always available to help. Property was secure with everything provided that one might need. Will stay again!

It was my first time in St. Maarten and we couldn't have been happier with the island and the property. There was plenty of room and things to do for my travel party which included my wife , in laws and young children. The outdoor patio was an oasis and worth it alone but the beach was also beautiful and private and my boys enjoyed playing in the sand and water. I’d definitely recommend the property and look forward to returning someday.
