We rented the Palazzo Nannini for almost three months in the spring of 2019. Having recently retired, we decided to rent an apartment in Siena to refocus our lives. We preferred an urban environment – we wanted to be able to walk and experience living in Italy – we looked for an apartment near cafés, groceries stores and good restaurants. The Palazzo Nannini and Siena exceeded our expectations.
The pictures of the apartment on the web site are accurate; the apartment is large and comfortable; at times we had two other couples staying with us and there was enough space for everyone. We ate many of our meals in the apartment; the kitchen is well-equipped and even has a truffle slicer (there’s a fellow at the Campo who gathers truffles in the morning and sells them in the afternoon, so fresh truffles are often available).
The apartment is on the Branchi di Sopra Siena’s main street. Although Branchi is largely car-free, there is lots of pedestrian traffic (including many tour groups during the day), so despite the apartment having excellent windows, expect some street noise. This is more than compensated for by being in a privileged position to watch the various contrade marching through the city in preparation for the palio as well as the occasional religious procession.
Included in the rent was weekly light-housekeeping and changing of the linens which was a real plus for a long-term rental. Gianluca, the landlord, was very responsive to our requests and immediately addressed any issues which arose. We highly recommend the apartment for anyone interested in experiencing life in Tuscany.
