Perfect Location

So relaxing!

This property was perfect! We were in town for a family wedding and this rental was only 15 minutes from the venue. We wanted to try to make this stay a mini vacation and this property allowed just that. We had picnic's on the beach, went kayaking and enjoyed the beautiful view of the stars at night! Not to mention we were able to have our dog with us. The beach is so beautiful and was such a great extended weekend that recharged the batteries and gave us such great memories!

Lovely place to relax and watch the Ocean

Can’t wait to come back!

This was our first time staying on this property. We brought our small dog who got to enjoy the beach for his first time. The guest house was the perfect amount of space for us. Not many places that quiet and peaceful with such an amazing view just steps away from the beach. Our weather wasn’t the greatest but we didn’t mind. We are now more excited to come back in August when we have reserved the main house for us and a small group of friends. We would highly recommend this property. Just plan ahead food wise and be ready to relax!

The location is beautiful and the apartment has everything you need. We kayaked and visited Point Lookout. A side story is that on the day we were leaving, our car battery was dead. The housekeeper who came to clean, Meghan, happily gave us a jumpstart. We were then on our way well before when AAA said they could arrive. Her kindness to strangers when she had work to do was much appreciated.

Great Quiet Guest House

Anniversary get-away

Very relaxing and enjoyable. Bed was very comfortable and the private beach was fabulous! This is the second time we have stayed with Scotland Yards Rentals and we will definitely do it again. The rental we had was very unique and the view of the bay was awesome!

Beautiful Beach House on the Chesapeake

We loved the very creative and comfortable layout of the house, and the view of the Bay from the living area. You can walk on the beach right outside the house! On the downside, internet didn't work and it was never fixed despite several calls to the management office. However, it didn't ruin our stay. We were just glad it wasn't something more urgent, since our calls were not answered promptly. Dirty linens were left stuffed in the bathroom closet, a concern during Covid. Everything else in the living area was clean, though. Altogether a pleasant stay, just needed more attention to details.

November Gataway

I was excited by our trip but not by the cleanliness of our accommodations. It was not as advertised online “We strive to offer the very best experience . . . “ or as listed in Scotland Yards’ FAQs, “Due to enhanced cleaning procedures during this season, we are unable to offer early check-in”. When we first arrived and upon unpacking, we found the room was not clean, only a surface level clean had been performed. The inside of several kitchen cabinets had crumbs, Cheerios and potato chip pieces were under the cushions of the couch, also dog hair and dust bunnies were under the bed. The bathroom also showed subpar cleanliness, debris, loose hair strands, possibly left by pervious guests, mold and mildew between the shower doors, and obvious grime on baseboards.This was our first time and visit to Scotland, Maryland and the guesthouse. Although, quality standards had not been met we trust that the issues mentioned above will be set right, since, we would love to return next year to view another sunrise.

Short Getaway

The guesthouse is nice for a relaxing short stay. We enjoyed the views of the water from the sofa in the living room or chairs in the small deck. It is a good location to visit Point Lookout State Park and the St. Mary’s historic district.

Beautiful location, fell short of expectations elsewhere

First off, the property and location is absolutely amazing. Right on the beach, with a great view. We were not happy with the level of cleanliness of the property, especially given the current pandemic. It was generally tidy, but there were food crumbs on the floor, and under the cabinets. It looked like it had been awhile since it was really cleaned. There was also a noticeable, significant layer of dust on all of the ceiling fans. Additionally, all of the contact information for the property manager was outdated. We tried to contact the individual listed, only to find out they no longer worked for the company. This just added to the overall sense of sloppiness. The property manager did come out to check on us after I emailed the owner. We emailed the owner prior to posting this review about our concerns, but did not receive any response. Bottom line, we probably wouldn't stay here in the future. There are plenty of beautiful properties that are better maintained.

Fabulous secluded waterfront cottage

What a beautiful clean and comfortable cottage /guesthouse on the chesapeake shore. All the modern amenities and beautifully decorated. Perfect pandemic get away with our pups. Cant wait to return. The private beach and kayaks were amazing!

Wonderful relaxing stay

The guest house is perfect for two people and it was so nice to have the beach to ourselves. The kayaks were great and we enjoyed being able to sit in the shade of the trees on the beach. We stayed three nights and I only saw people walk by on the beach three times the entire stay. The mattress was good but note the bed does sit high off the ground, I am 5’4” and the top of the mattress almost came to my belly button so I had to kind of bounce and hop my way in to it. You might want to bring a small stool if you are on the shorter side or need an easier time getting in. The guest house is basically one big room with divider walls that don’t go to the ceiling (including the bathroom) so there isn’t a lot of privacy or any noise separation inside but that wasn’t a problem for us.
