Theare are many interesting places to visit in the surrounding countryside such as the towns of Montemerano, Pitigliano and Magliano and the famous thermal falls of Saturnia. Scansano is renowned for its red wine, the "Morellino", sold all over the world but also for wine in general which ca be tasted at vaoius local wine shops. It is possible to go horse-riding. Siena can be reached for a day-trip either by car or, from Grosseto, by train or bus. From Porto Santo Stefano there is a ferry service to Isola del Giglio. Scansano boasts a beautiful small theatre (1800) where, during the summer months concerts are held as part of the Scansano Morellino Classica festival. The concerts are given by world-class artists performing mostly classical music but also some jazz. Some of the concets are held in local churches or attractive outdoor settings.
