Casa Fior di Rosa is a bright and spacious 100-year-old, three-story Tuscan farmhouse that has been lovingly renovated with great attention to detail and is nestled in the green heart of Tuscany. It is surrounded by a nature reserve and overlooks a beautiful, ever-changing valley. It’s the perfect place for those who love nature and want to unplug, get away from the city to unwind, relax, write, contemplate, enjoy good food, wildlife, and the magical Tuscan light.
We have two very large bedrooms: one on the first floor that sleeps 3 (1 queen-size bed and 1 single bed) and, on the top floor, there is one large suite that also sleeps 3 (1 queen-size bed and 1 single bed). We also have two pull-out sofa beds: one in the living room on the first floor next to the kitchen, and one in the living room on the first floor, which also features a fireplace. All the windows have been enlarged to let in more light, as traditional Tuscan homes typically had few windows—and those that did were small at best.
There are two bathrooms: one full bathroom on the first floor and one half-bathroom on the first floor next to the kitchen.
The kitchen is on the first floor and is the heart of our home. It features large windows above the sink and a large glass door that offers a full view of the valley, plus French doors that open onto a covered patio. It is a fully equipped kitchen with all the modern amenities you need, but we’ve maintained the rustic charm by preserving the original large wooden beams, terracotta tiles, and a cozy wood-burning stove for those cooler evenings.
On either side of the kitchen are two patios; one overlooking the valley with an outdoor barbecue, table, chairs, and hammocks, and on the other side, facing the mountain, there is a huge covered pergola for dining al fresco on days when you’d like to be in the shade. We also have several cozy spots around the house where you can relax and listen to the birds.
As a guest, you’ll have access to the entire house and the 4 hectares of land surrounding it.
The surrounding area is full of places to explore. There’s something for everyone—from nature walks, horseback riding, cycling, and wine testing to great food, swimming in volcanic basin lakes, and enjoying a coastline full of beaches. Monte Amiata is a nature lover’s dream. It’s a dormant volcano standing 1,738 meters high. In the summer, there are plenty of hiking trails to explore; in the fall, the area is bursting with chestnuts and mushrooms; and in the winter, there are 15 ski lifts to choose from, as well as ski instructors and ski schools. And for history lovers, there are many Etruscan and medieval villages nearby.
