Feels Like Home
We are repeat guests who (3 weeks this stay), upon driving to the Funchal airport, felt NOT like we were going “home” but, sadly, we were leaving what has become like home. We agree with all positive comments posted before us. Without question, the villa is everything it promises to be and more. But that is for you to discover, to make the experience your own.
This seductive villa with spacious grounds and sweeping ocean views is truly a special private world by day. In darkness, it transforms into romantic solitude (particularly down by the clifftop crackling fire pit above crashing waves and beneath a multitude of stars) … your unseen world far from the tourist crowds. Yet, with a car, the hustle bustle of Funchal is a mere 20 minutes away.
Periodic “road noise” complaints? Better to embrace things we are powerless to change? Those late-night sounds of a young motorcyclist accelerating joyfully around adrenalin-pumping curves conjure lost memories of our own wild youth.
Some people allow periodic overhead aircraft arrivals to bother them. But what a lucky place to be that we can spot the “in-bound” coming from 10 minutes out at sea! As we would not be here in paradise without them, better to embrace those periodic 15-second interruptions that punctuate long periods of silence. Let them serve as reminders to keep looking up and out, and marvel at where we are privileged to be.
Everything about this villa is rightfully in place. The place is what you make of it. Enjoy.
