Family retreat
We had our entire family stay in this winter palace, with children ranging from 7 to 22 years of age, and they all enjoyed the stay thoroughly. They loved the medieval artifacts and paintings.

Great stay in a unique home
We all greatly enjoyed our stay at Chateau De Melusine. The unique building made for a lovely basecamp, with beautiful views and ski-in via The Spires trail network and ski-out via a short walk or ski (depending on snow conditions) to the Villagee access trail. The home itself is full of unique artifacts, and a trip to the owner Norman's dungeon next door is certainly in order if you have the opportunity. The dragon cake and fresh flowers he delivered on the first day of our stay were a welcome touch of hospitality.

Incredible castle!
We were lucky enough to stay here during a big winter storm! This property is a magical castle and our group loved staying here. Its about a 20 minute walk from the resort or a 5 minute drive. The hot tub was relaxing and the place was comfortable. Just make sure to have a good car for driving in the snow since it can get icy. Thank you guys for an incredible stay ~

Magical place to make great memories
We were truly transported back to medieval times… The younger boys loved the experience of sleeping in the tower of the castle… The art and artifacts added so much more to the experience for the adults…looking forward to visiting again…

Castle in the mountains
The communication with the property owner was stellar. The description of the property was accurate and the location was stunning. The castle was very unique and fun to explore. There were some cobwebs in the house and the hot tub didn’t seem to have been cleaned in a while and had quite a bit of scum around the edges. Overall it was a wonderful stay and we have a great time.

One of the Coolest Experiences You Will Ever Have!
My husband and I stayed here with my parents for two nights in May and It. Was. Epic. The road climbing up to Schweitzer was exhilarating, like climbing a mountain and then we found...the castle. It's one thing to see it in the photos online, but it is absolutely amazing to experience it in real life! WE couldn't stop laughing in amazement while we explored the whole castle. It was beautiful and clean and had all of these amazing artifacts from the 15th and 16th centuries and all of the modern amenities we could wish for. The furniture was perfect for the look of the castle. The bedrooms were so cool. Have I mentioned the fire breathing dragon?! So clever! We absolutely loved everything about our stay there. The owner even brought us a dragon cake to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary which was completely a surprise and so appreciated....as if anything could have made the stay more perfect. This will be a trip that you will never forget!

Ski-in, Walk-out, Medieval Castle @ Schweitzer
Amazing stay, highly recommend it for something different. Pros: Like living in a medieval, European castle, but with all of the elements of modern times - hot water, electricity, wifi, full kitchen, large fireplace, hot tub, and ski-in access from Schweitzer. Cons: only 1 full bathroom and 1 half-bath. Neighbor does not allow skiing across her driveway to access slopes to "ski-out", necessitating skiing/walking down 90 yards of castle driveway, and another 100 yards of street to get to trail to ski to village. Note you must have major 4x4 wheel drive to get up the steep and curvy driveway. We arrived for check-in and the drive-way was unplowed, 9 inches of fresh snow on top of a season of hard packed snow, and 2 tries in our Ford Expedition Max 4x4 and could not make it all of the way up the driveway. We called property manager Vacasa, and they were VERY UNHELPFUL, said it was plowed and did nothing to resolve the problem. They even sent text message the next day saying we should be prepared by bringing a shovel (I have the text msg). Fortunately neighbors down the road saw our situation, and came and plowed out the driveway for us. We were able to access the castle! We never left for the next 4 days, leaving and coming by skis only (it was awesome). The ski-out to the village is further complicated by a 50 yard section of trail that goes across a dirt road. With fresh snow you can ski right across, once its plowed there is gravel.
