We had a great stay at the Hampton Inn San Simeon while visiting Hearst Castle. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the location was very convenient. The breakfast was good, and the coffee was amazing and always fresh. We’d definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel again. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The location is close to most things and convenient. Breakfast was included which is a nice extra! And it was one of the few hotels in the Monterey area that had free parking. The only negative was that the walls were thin, but we were located on the backside away from the highway, which was great. We could hear people talking outside the room, in the hallways, or in the parking lot. But fortunately no one lingered and the noise was manageable. Thank you to all the staff members that helped make our stay great!

We asked for a new room because there was a 'smell', kind of like clean seaweed/ocean and cleaning products but the new room faintly smelled of it as well. The windows were open and even though it didn't smell this way outside, it appeared to be coming through the window. The room was very clean and comfortable. We asked for ear plugs, which never came our way. A smoke alarm went off at 2:10 a.m in our room only apparently and there was no reason found for it. Staff was very apologetic and we received a discount. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Fire pit was not working. The staff was very helpful, but the fire pit was still not working properly. Note there was another fire pit that was of the same make and brand that had a sign stating that it was "out of order". The pool also needed to be heated better. It was as if they only heated the pool during the day, but for evening swimming it was cold and not heated.
