    Stop hunting for the perfect vacation home and gather your friends or family members together for a memorable escape to this gorgeous and totally unique home on Hatteras Island! Inspired by the work of the renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, this four-bedroom, upscale vacation home boasts gorgeous hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, upscale heirloom furnishings, and antiques displayed in custom casework for you to admire during your stay. The well-equipped, sleek, galley-style kitchen includes top-shelf appliances, a double wall oven, and an attached bar with counter stools. This then opens to one of two dining areas with plenty of seating available for meals or family game nights. The large, one-of-a-kind living area blends upscale elements with true comforts as well as floor-to-ceiling windows and a TV. Adjacent to this is a cozy den with another comfortable seating area - perfect for quiet conversation or just relaxing with a good book and a mug of hot tea. And if you're craving some friendly competition, ascend the dramatic spiral staircase into the loft game room complete with a pool table, foosball table, game table, and a media area with a home theater system. Additionally and to provide even more convenience during your stay, this retreat features a butler's kitchen, which has a stove, sink, and a counter height sub-zero refrigerator with an ice maker. This room also has a laundry area.

    Step outside onto the furnished deck where you'll find a private gas grill for summertime cookouts, then step down to your very own hot tub. And when it's time to call it a night, this home features three stunning king bedrooms including the main suite with an ensuite bath and access to a second, private deck, as well as a teen or kid-friendly room with two twins just off the game room.

    Most visitors to Salvo and Hatteras Island come to experience the gorgeous, unspoiled, and secluded beaches where you can swim, sunbathe, kiteboard, and windsurf. Pack up a picnic lunch and head south to the Salvo Day Use Area on the west side of the island or take a drive on the sand accessible via Ramp 23, just half-mile south. Take a short stroll to browse the unique hand-crafted wares at Pea Island Art Gallery, a replica 1874 station house displaying paintings, pottery, woodwork, and glass by regional artists. If you want to do some pier fishing, check out the Rodanthe Pier, three-and-a-half miles north, or the Avon Fishing pier, less than 14 miles south. And if you need to pick up dinner, coffee, or sweet treats, you'll find cafes and restaurants just a couple of miles north alongside NC-12 in the Waves and Rodanthe areas.

Enjoyed it thoroughly except the pool wasn’t that clean but it did get heated after calling when we got there. We had emailed about some clothing left behind but have not heard back yet.

The property was very beautifully laid out. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay. It was a nice and peaceful getaway. The only complaint we have are that some of the amenities could use some updating/repairs such as the pool table and hot tub.

Stay here if you are over the saltwater taffy coloured homes of OBX. The homes gives of the fine vibes of swanky grandparents form the late 70s early 80s. Very private. An expansive home.

Nice place

This is a very nice place and a good location. Very close to the beach at Ramp 23. The house needs some general maintenance to some of the furniture and light bulbs changed, but aside from that it’s a very nice property with a neat history and nice amenities.

Very nice home, with a few flaws. Back deck has alot of loose boards. Some various items in the house are broke or are not correct. The pool was not clean.

Family Celebration at Hunt and Gather

Our family booked Hunt and Gather for our first-time visit to the OBX. The home was spacious and spotless. I was relieved that the online photos accurately depicted what we were hoping for. The pool was a delight and cupboards well equipped for cooking. Location was close to both ocean and sound access, and Ramp 25 made it easy to set up fire on the shoreline. Despite the free range roosters that woke us daily by 6 am we created great memories!

Cool house!

My family and I loved this place! It has a 70's lodge vibe which we thought was really unique. The wood was beautiful! Great for the kids because of the game amentities and the layout was perfect for family of all ages to hang out! The hot tub was a great plus too! We would love to return during the warmer months to take advantage of the pool. The house was very clean and any questions I had were answered quickly. Check in/out was simple and quick. I definitely recommend this home!

Nice home for its age

We enjoyed our vacation stay. Understanding the house has some age, it has been well maintained with many amenities. We loved the layout of the house, pool and hot tub (although some of the jets do not function as they should). The couches are worn and not as comfy as they look. Game room upstairs was a hit with the grandkids. The 1/2 bathroom upstairs is really meant for kids as a tall person cannot stand up straight. The second bathroom downstairs is a bit small but fully functional. All-in-all it was a nice unique rental. Would consider renting again.

Unique House

Loved the vibe of this house and the decor of the main house! Bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious on main level!! Subzero frig in butlers pantry was nice added feature...added a bin of ice quickly for meals. Within walking distance to Day Beach and under 5 min drive to Ocean side beaches. This area is sooo unique to be able to see incredible sunrises and sunsets just by crossing the street! Fell in love with this area as our new vacation destination. Way less crowded...especially keeping covid in mind! Love, loved!

The house was as described, the walking distance to the beach is a little exaggerated. It is quite ways to cut through private property with neighbors. The beach itself is very rough (not swimmable for kids or adults) most of the beach is closed for bird sanctuary and fresh crabs are everywhere in the beach. The sand is rough on the feet, walk bare feet at your own risk and no life guards. The house itself is tidy but dusty for sure. The bottom two bedroom in the ground floor doesn't have good ventilation, the primary room is great, the loft bedroom is similar to the other bedroom (too hot and no good ventilation). The pool was great to have since you can't swim the beach. This house retreat is not typical beach house, it is isolated (30 miles away from Kills Devil and Kitty Hawk). A few miles away from Nags Head. Kitty Hawk has the best soft sands and swimmable with life guards. The Salvo is more for living with the locals with limited options for restaurants, groceries, and no hospital or clinics near by. Everything is dark and closed after 7 to 9pm depending on the days of the week. Nothing opened until 9am in the morning. The kitchen in the house needs update and ventilation. There is a dirty kitchen but that is barely functional. The dishwasher is not good either. The washer and dryer are functional but old just like most of the appliances inside the house. You must cook all meals or eat cereal as food delivery is not offered in Salvo or anywhere in Cape Hatteras.

We all loved the history of the house and how open it is. This home is perfect for a group of guest that don’t want to be right on top of each other while relaxing at the house. The kitchen was stocked as far as pots, pans and utensils. BRING YOUR OWN TUPPERWARE! The pool was nice and altho the pool light didn’t work it’s not a big deal due to the flood light that lights up the pool perfectly! This home is definitely a place I want to rent again but keep in mind it is an older home and sometimes things are outdated but still worth every penny!

Better than the photos!

The amount of space in this home between the bedroom size of all 3 downstairs bedrooms to the use of all available cabinet space in the kitchen. They have thought of it all. The pool is a wonderful addition to this home, although it will feel impossible to keep all the leaves out, part of what we love about the OBX is the trees and beautiful plants while being on the ocean. There is an abundant amount of dining seating with 2 large Sunday dinner style tables inside and one outside as well. Not to forget the seats at the beautiful bar. There is a lot of natural light in this home and it is so comfortable and welcoming. Wish to come back next year!

Amazing Family Beach Vacation!

The house is fab! Large bedrooms & Kitchen tables, and all around great home to make some family memories! Best hit was the game room and beach access across the street. Our children loved the swimming pool. Only issue was pool was supported to be heated. That was a big bummer. Confirm beforehand and get a local contact of who is servicing pool! A credit was given due to lack of communication during our trip and pool service. All in all…it was an amazing vacation! One for the books!

Nice home, but needs TLC!

Beautiful home inside! Very spacious! There were issues with the kitchen sink being clogged up, the pool not being cleaned, The outside furniture was very old and not very nice to sit on or used. The grill was rusted and unusable. We tried to address these issues the first day we arrived and no one ever came to fix these. Our resolution came later after we left in the form of a partial refund.

We found the home and accessed with Code from e-mail wi to out any problem…. What an awesome house… everything very clean and bed/bath great… all furnishing first class… noted Frank Lloyd Wrightish look and later read welcome book to see a friend of ours, Lou Wrightmyier, who also helped us with roof lines and skylights in our own home…had worked on this home… large overhangs/ angled skylights… felt like home! Hot tub was fantastic ,even able to use pool even though later Sept. Loved the privacy afforded by landscape/ live oaks. Only problem encountered was refrigerator not working well… freezer not making ice and did not really feel cold… refrigerator section also not really cool.. most of the food we took.. hard boiled eggs/luncheon meat/ chix salad went bad … really afraid to use eggs ,mayo etc. Reported problem and due to our relatively short stay, we did not request immediate service but did report as problem. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us… would love to return

Not Recommending

The only thing I liked about the house were the pictures of it on the Vacasa site. House is run down and everything in the pictures are either, heavily worn by the sun or not even there at hall. Pool filtration is horrible. Broken dishes/glasses. Filthy under the glass on one of the tables we ate on (once). Great lip service when you call. The results are nothing far from negative star ratings.. There is more to list. I hope there is a way to contact me, if you want to talk prior to renting this home.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. The house itself is interesting on the inside but badly needs bathroom updates. All exhaust fans in the home were extremely dusty and dirty. The kitchen was well appointed but old style cabinet pulls pinched no less than 4 members of our party when trying to close a cabinet. Extremely disappointed that the home does not participate in curbside recycling. Fyi the home is extremely close to major road and outdoor areas are hard to enjoy with road noise. Outdoor furniture is also in need of updating with many broken rungs and scratchy wood.

Awesome place to stay

The place was great with a history behind it. Everything you need is there for everyone with a spacious house awesome pool and hot tub. The only complaint I have is that VRBO is who we booked with it was then sent to Vacasa which was horrible. We kept calling and calling because we never received an email to get into the house it is now 8pm 3 hours after the 5pm check in and vacasa told me that if I enter before the email I would jeopardize my stay as we are strict on it. They sent me the unlock code the day prior. So I just took the chance andwent in at 823pm. Still to this day I have not received an email to check in. Someone needs to figure out what is going on and fix it. Overall the place I highly recommended to stay here just make sure you get clarification first.

1 out of 5 stars — "Sleepless in Soakville: A Beachside Misadventure"Ah, the beach—the salty air, the crashing waves, the soothing sound of water dripping directly onto the master bed through a leaky ceiling on night one. Romantic, right? That is, if your idea of romance is moving the soaking sheets aside and relocating to separate couches like post-argument newlyweds.As a combat veteran with a back held together by grit and duct tape, sleeping on the couch wasn’t just uncomfortable—it was physically punishing. Nothing says “relaxing beach getaway” like reactivating an old spinal injury.But wait—there’s more! The local wildlife (cockroaches and ants, specifically) also checked in. Apparently, they had no problem finding the bathrooms, because that’s where the ants staged their takeover. As for the roaches, they didn’t even try to hide. Bold little guys.Between the leaky roof, bug brigade, and back-wrecking furniture, the only thing this place was good for was testing my marriage, my spine, and my will to stay civil in a review.Would I stay here again? Only if the roof gets fixed, the pest control gets serious, and someone invents a couch that doubles as a chiropractor.
