Private Creek, Hiking Trail System, Trout Fishing Onsite + Game Room, WiFi, Fire
Welcome to the Homestead Nature Lodge. We’re so glad you have found us here along our magical creek in Western North Carolina. Snug in the Appalachian region, you’ll find yourself surrounded by ancient mountains, rushing creeks, countless hiking trails, twinkling stars in the night sky, private campfires and some of the most unique native trout fishing in the region. Whether you’re traveling with family or a group of friends, we know you’ll find a treasured blend of relaxation, fun, and the perfect backdrop for making memories together.
So, why the Homestead Nature Lodge? Well, that’s an easy one. At Huffman Creek Retreat, you’re getting much more than just a cabin. You’re practically getting a whole state park experience to yourself! Once you arrive there’s really no reason to leave. Enjoy the miles of private hiking trails that will take you to waterfalls, lookouts, our own meditation / picnic shelter, and even a plane crash! Keep an eye out for blackberries, mushrooms, singing birds, and beautiful blooms along the way. Prefer a little less adventure? No worries. Grab a book and relax by the creek in one of our hammocks or simply soak in the cool creek water after a restorative yoga flow on the massive back porch.
If you’re traveling with a group bigger than a couple, there’s a chance you’ll have a mix of personalities. Some will hope to sleep in late, other’s will want a breakfast spread at sunrise, and some may stay up late into the night watching the stars. The Homestead’s 3-story layout is purposefully designed to accommodate just that. With a private suite on the main and lower level and a bunk room and 4th bedroom on the upper level, you can spread out and enjoy your vacation on your own timeline.
After a day of adventure, prepare a meal in the kitchen or out on the grill by the fire and opt for an inside meal together or out on the huge back porch with a view of the fireflies in the summer of falling leaves in autumn.
After a few days at Huffman Creek Retreat, you’ll be ready for life’s next adventures and only wishing you could stay a few days longer.

My family & I had a great time. This is the 1st cabin I've been to that had such a well stocked kitchen where I had to put away everything I brought up there. The location & property were beautiful. You can do some serious hiking on the land around the cabins. The cabin was clean & everything we expected it to be. Kali the property mgr is so helpful & sweet. We'd definitely come back again.
Our group of friends were able to come together in North Carolina from all over the states. We met about 18 years ago playing World of Warcraft online and this was our first in person get together :)
The property was wonderful! Such a perfect setting for us to explore, eat good food and relax. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed.
The back porch area is where we spent most of our time. There were rocking chairs, fire pit, and a lovely giant table perfect for hanging out.
If we are ever back in this area, we would stay here again.
The cabin was clean and comfortable. If you get car sick I would think twice about this cabin. The roads to get there are very curvy. The hike to the plane crash was rough but worth it. It's a beautiful area. The fire pit is great. And there is a nice large back porch and a swing and rockers on the front porch.
If your looking for a great time in the mountains, this is it .Located not to far off the Cherohala skyway ,the tail of the dragon, numerous rivers ,lakes,or just simply stay at the cabin no disappointment here.
Our family loved the cabin. Beautiful area, the cabin was plenty of room for the family. Everything we needed was there. Enjoyed the pool table. Sad that the arcade game didn’t work. I’m also sad that I left my phone charger behind . Overall we had a wonderful time. Everything was clean and it also had extra fans and heaters. Very secluded, we will be coming back.

The cabin was wonderful. The driveway and drive getting to it was a little difficult. There was only enough room for one case at a time to drive down. The creek was across the street from where we stayed. Overall me and my family had a wonderful time and would definitely do it again.
Road coming in is a bit rough for motorcycles, but otherwise a great stay and great house! Check in process of the code being sent to you the day of would have been good info to have. Still a great place!
This property is so beautiful, the on site manger is very helpful and the check in was so smooth, i really love this property! i want to come back and stay in a new cabin next year! the creeks and traiks make it so fun no day is boring! Thank you for the memories!
Huffman Creek Retreat and the Homestead Lodge exceeded our expectations. We were talking about coming back before we left and we will. Thank you, Robin Turner and Staff!

Great getaway!
Plenty of space for our group of 3 adults and 6 kids and a beautiful piece of property. The kids loved playing in the creek and enjoyed the fire pit and the game room. Would love to come back!
This was the perfect family friendly home with space for everyone to spread out and be comfortable. The house was well supplied with everything we needed . we spent hours with our grandchildren ages four through 19 hiking and jumping from rock to rock down the creek the area is absolutely beautiful so relaxing being surrounded by the trees and the sound of water running over the rocks surrounds you Robbinsville is about 11 miles away has grocery and drugstore along with a impressive pizza buffet grandchildren asked if we could go back again next summer we willabsolutely be back.
We enjoyed every moment of this beautiful cabin we have stayed here before nobody bothers you I enjoyed waking up to the sound of the creek the only one thing I didn’t like was the couch had dog hairs other than that the cabin was very clean I would rate this 5stars+++
Our group of 5 adults stayed for one week with our dogs. The cabin was plenty big, the beds were comfortable, and we had all the kitchen equipment we needed for preparing our meals. We especially appreciated the opportunities to hike on property, near beautiful streams, with the dogs. We would definitely consider returning to Huffman Creek Retreat.
Very cozy and comfortable house. Beautiful area close to the creek with great trails and nice views, lots of great places to relax like the hammocks and ferris wheel seat swings. We didn’t even have to leave the property! The hot tub was a little dirty but other than that the house was clean. Over all great trip, we will definitely be coming back!

Short comings
Great place to get away from it all. However, floors and rugs were very dirty, only two trays of ice in freezer for family of nine, and showed pictures of gas logs, but were not usable.
It was an awesome home! Thank you for sharing it with us. I am 62 and hiked up to the plane crash! It was a rough climb but was well worth it. We had the best time of our lives! The house was plenty big enough. So many trails and waterfalls.
My husband and I brought our adult children and our young grands. We all loved our stay. Out of the entire week, we left the property for other activities only twice. The property has hiking, outdoor relaxing in hammocks or by a campfire. The kids were in love with the creek and spent hours splashing and exploring there. It is very remote but that’s what made it so wonderful. If you go, check out that night sky!

Lovely vacation!
We truly had a wonderful time at the cabin and the surrounding area. Fishing, swimming, wading in the creek, hanging around the fire pit, etc. My only negative would be that the overall cleanliness of the cabin was a bit under par. Other than that, everything went great. And I want to thank all those involved with the fallen tree/electricity situation. It was handled very quickly. :)
