If guests need to smoke they are asked to use the street entrance - not the garden. ★ As per Icelandic customs we take our shoes off. The floors are 140 years old wooden floors. ★ Guests are asked to keep in mind that any water spillage can damage the floor so please be mindful of that. ★ Please note that there are two smaller rental units in the basement.
No Parties/Events
Noise complaints will be taken seriously, and parties will result in a $2000 fine and immediate termination of the rental agreement. Respecting the neighbors is our top priority.
The house should be quiet between 11PM - 7AM. It is a quiet family neighborhood, but if you are in the mood for a party, you are only a two minute walk away from Reykjavík's finest nightlife.
Thank you for understanding.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. Thora provided so many complimentary treats to make our stay easy and comfortable. The house was spotless and beautiful. Thank you!
You can't beat the location and the communication with the host was amazing. You'll love the place! One bedroom is only accessible through another bedroom, which is a bit strange, but other than that, the place is perfect. I would definitely recommend :)
The location of this beautiful, historic home couldn’t be better. We were able to walk to fun shopping and great restaurants. The interior of the home is charming with beautiful original wood floors and staircase. It is however modernized in every important way. The kitchen has everything you might need to make a gourmet meal. The bathrooms are so pretty with excellent water pressure. I can’t think of anything I might do to improve our stay. It was all I could have hoped for!! I recommend this accommodation without reservation. Thank you!
Our 2 families enjoyed staying at this home which was smack in the middle of town - easy walk to restaurants, shops, and museums. The owners were friendly and responsive. The historic home is modernized but there were some old home inconveniences such as a low ceiling on the narrow stairs and an attic toilet you had to bend down to get on, but as long as you can maneuver through that plus the lack of a microwave and the city noises, you'll enjoy your stay at this property. Comfy beds, large kitchen, and fun decor.
I would stay here again for sure!
Our stay was perfection! Thora’s home is so beautiful—and centrally located for walking around town. It also happens to be less than a block away from the best bakery on the planet, BakaBaka. :)
It was the perfect amount of space for our group of 10…such attention to detail in each room and such character (especially the kitchen!)
We will definitely be back!
We were a group of 8 friends on vacation. This rental was perfect for our size group and a great home base to explore Reykjavík and surrounding areas. I don’t think the pictures give enough credit for how spacious the kitchen, dining and living room areas are. Thora was also an incredibly helpful and communicative host.
This property was everything we were hoping for and more! The hosts were very responsive throughout the whole experience and allowed us to stay an extra night when our flight got cancelled due to weather. The home was beautifully eclectic and had so much charm. Perfect distance to all of Reykjaviks downtown restaurants, shopping, and bus stop pick up/drop off locations for tours and airport transfers. Awesome dinner recommendations too. Highly, highly recommend!! Hope to come back some day.
The house is absolutely wonderful! It fitted our group very well, was very spacious and beautiful. The kitchen was ideal for cooking and overall we could not have been happier with our choice.
The location is perfect. Close to everything; grocery store, restaurants, bakery and everything else you need. It is located in a residential area with so much character. It really gives an authentic experience.
Thora was a great communicator and went above and beyond to assist us in every way.
Can’t recommend this gorgeous downtown villa highly enough!

Great downtown location in a historic home
One of the oldest homes in Reykjavík, the home is thoughtfully updated to include modern conveniences while preserving its 19th century charm. Our family of five were comfortable in this home, which is easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. There is a private/dedicated parking spot which seems to be a rare offering in Reykjavík. The hosts were great - we were met by the husband Volundur, who was thoughtful enough to provide a bag of ice for my wife, who had sustained a broken wrist earlier in our travels. A wonderful bowl of fresh fruit awaited us upon our arrival. Volundur is an accomplished former chef and author - look for a couple of intriguing books authored by Volundur in the house. A great base to explore Iceland!

Beautiful visit in Reykjavik!
We were visiting Reykjavik to attend a music festival at Harpa and to bring in the New Year. Our stay at Thora's house could not have been better. The house is warm , lovely and decorated as though we chose every item (felt like home)! Thora and her husband could not have been more accommodating, warm and helpful. There were three couples in our party and we were all very comfortable. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere and could not have been happier!

Birthday stay
Daughter took me to Iceland for my birthday. A friend of hers and her Mother (who also had a birthday at that time) came too. We loved the house. Plenty of room, great location, could see the Ocean from my bedroom. Both restaurants that we went to at night were close by, bakery and plenty of things to see within walking distance. We had no idea at the time who we were renting from but it became apparent that it was the renowned Chef of Iceland. Blizzard came out of nowhere but it made our trip that much more memorable. Thanks for the memory!!
