This property is such a hidden gem! It was immaculately clean and we could have stayed on the property for our entire stay. The kids loved swimming, diving, and fishing in the creek. We explored the cave, hiked, and enjoyed evenings on the deck. Ken and his family were such great hosts - we were treated like family. We would love to be able to stay again next time we're in the area!
My boys and I had the trip of a lifetime! The property was absolutely stunning—far beyond what we imagined. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing outdoor getaway. Ken and his family were incredible hosts, and the space was spotless and perfect for the whole family. We’ll definitely be back for more!
We had a wonderful stay at the Creekside House. The house is charming, very well cared for, and hands down the cleanest vacation rental I've stayed at. The hosts are quick to respond to any questions. Great location for relaxing or seeing the sights.

Staying here was the highlight of our visit to the Black Hills! The cabin was clean and cozy with lots of character. Ken was an excellent host. The views are absolutely stunning, and it felt like we had the whole valley to ourselves. My kids and I loved kayaking in the swimming hole and exploring the stream (highly recommend water shoes!).
It has all the things! Modern amenities and appliances and charm of a cabin that’s seen lots of joy over the decades. The host greeted us and gave us an overview of the trails on the property. We didn’t explore any of them since we were hitting all the parks by day. The teens enjoyed the kayaks and floating in the swimming hole. I enjoyed the deck and the sound of rushing water while reading or doom-scrolling. We enjoyed our stay so much and were lucky it was available for 1 more night. Don’t miss out on this amazing space!
We had the most amazing time! The property was beautiful, super clean, with historical charm. The views and serenity of the StratoBowl are incomparable. Our kids LOVED the creek with the kayaks and could have spent an entire day out just doing that. We decided our stay was too short! We saw a ton of local attractions and would have loved one more day to spend exclusively at the cabin! Thank you!
I don't think we could've fit more in in our four days day we were welcomed warmly by lynn, and she communicated some places we might like to visit via text message. The home was immaculate.... Plenty of supplies to assist our stay.
We enjoyed all the amenities of the stream by fishing and hiking... Was nicely centrally located to go to Mount Rushmore, Lake Sylvan, Custer state park & the badlands.... If we are to return to this area, we will definitely use this cabin again
Plenty of supplies
Wish we would have stayed longer! Kids had an absolute blast in the swimming hole— kayaks and fishing. Explored the trails and cave nearby. A gem of a location! Didn’t realize the swimming hole is shared with another property but it wasn’t a problem at all. Also was a little unclear with the check in process— but was all sorted out quickly! Will definitely return— what a great spot!
Such a stunning property! I was mesmerized by the beautiful creek in the backyard. We took a short hike that followed the creek. The house is very cozy. I didn't want to leave because it was so peaceful. Unfortunately,We were unable to swim in the creek because it was unseasonably cold for mid-June with highs barely reaching 70 degrees. We left 100 degree temps in St. Louis. So, the break from the head an humidity was exactly what we needed! I was only slightly bummed by the colder weather because the view of the creek and the mountains just took my breath away.
I have been to the Black Hills/Rapid City multiple times and had I known this little jewel was available I would have never stayed anywhere else! Check in process was awesome, owner gave us a tour of the property with an excellent history lesson about the area, the home is immaculate with such awesome craftsmanship and excellent amenities with a retro/old school vibe. Love all of the decor. Map of the property with hiking trails and pictures are available. Quite simply the best part of this cabin is the quiet escape from the rush (especially during Sturgis) AMAZING views, the swimming hole was excellent, kayaks available, water was pristine, I just cannot say enough cool things about this place... Even my teenagers said it was the coolest VRBO they have stayed in! Thank you to the host and hostess for such an excellent stay!! Will be booking again!!!
This wonderful home was centrally located to many of the various tourist activities in the Black Hills, but you wouldn't know it. It was nestled on a quiet road, with lots of privacy, and had a fantastic swimming hole right out the back door. It was a cozy place to unwind, enjoy the views, watch the wildlife and relax. It was perfect for our family vacation! We'd love to come back and enjoy this "gem" again!
My family and I had the best family vacation to date!! The house is big and so full of history! The cabin is in a great location. It is 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore. About 40 minutes from Crazy Horse and Custer State Park. Everything that we wanted to do was just a short drive away. But make sure you plan at least one day to explore around the cabin! We ended up staying two days relaxing by the creek. My two grandsons, ages 3 and 4, loved playing in the swimming hole. My older kids liked floating down the creek a short ways. There is a cave to explore and hiking trails. It is one of the most beautiful places. I enjoyed relaxing on the back deck and down by the creek. If you are looking for a peaceful, private place, this is it! Ken and Cory are the best!! They are very sweet people. Ken told us some history of the strata bowl and times he spent there as a child. My hole family would love to go back!!
Great relaxing property with lots of hiking in a convenient are in the Black Hills. Really enjoyed Kayaking in the river and just sitting outside relaxing to the sounds.
Great experience! Did have to check in personally with host to sign waivers, which was unexpected, but helpful to get info about the property and area. Was such a great property to stay at with the swimming hole and trails. Location to all of the things to explore in the area was also good.
Property was amazing!! The house was clean and the swimming hole was so much fun for my kids! It was very centrally located to all the attractions we wanted to see and the trails accessible right from the house were beautiful!! An amazing spot!!!
Close to all the tourist attractions, but could have totally spent the whole weekend on this gorgeous property without leaving! Exceeded our expectations!
Loved this location. Property was beautiful with the swimming hole and stream. Hiking trails to overlook the area was amazing. Close to places we wanted to visit. Would stay there again!
Our family stayed here in early July. It was beautiful! The kids had an amazing time in the swimming hole. Every small detail planned by the host was appreciated. There were games for adults, toys for children, beach towels and extra toiletries if you forget something! Great host, great house, great history!
