The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't stopped our appetite for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle travel's new challenges:

• Find out the restrictions and rules in both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so check before you book your flight.
• Keep your face mask on during airport screening. A TSA employee will ask you to lower your mask temporarily for ID purposes.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag for X-ray scanning.
• Put any personal items (keys, wallet and phone) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you're taking food through security screening, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.
