If you want a quaint, authentic Costa Rican stay, this place is for you. I feel the poor reviews come from people expecting a luxury resott despite paying less than half the price. The rooms were clean, the staff was kind and helpful, and we saw so many different animals right at thr hotel. We saw scarlet macaws, squirrel monkeys, agouti, and iguanas daily, some up close. Howler monkeys visited on 2 of our 8 days. It was a perfect experience.

Pros: The owner and staff on site were so sweet and so helpful. Monkeys were all over the property which was so cool. The complementary breakfast was simple but very good. The location was very central, so getting to most places in quepos/manuel antonio was a 15 minute drive at maximum. They also offer a free tour guide for manuel antonio park, and a 50% discount at a local indian restaurant (i forgot the name, sorry) Cons: The rooms were a little more run down than the photos advertised, but they weren’t that bad. The monkeys/lizards were scratching at the walls/ceiling which kinda freaked me out until we realized what it was lol. The most inconvenient part came on our last day though. The hotel lost power on our last night and was out for multiple hours. With no A/C, it was so hot that it was almost impossible to even sleep :( I understand it was because of the weather, but just be aware that this hotel does not have a backup generator! Also, there was very minimal parking.

We reserved a room at this location, however we were switched to ZenZaru same ownership. At KiKaru the grounds were not maintained and the pool was unusable/not clean. When we arrived at ZenZaru the location was very inconvenient. You had to go down approximately 100 steps to get to the rooms. There is no reception area, no rest area/lounge. The room was recently finished but not complete. The bathroom/shower was large and comfortable, however the extreme hot water was not adjustable and poor drainage, also exposed wires in shower head. The room, felt like a prison cell, no outside light coming in, there was only 1 window. Which was cover with curtain as opposed to blinds that can be opened. There was no place for clothing, no place to hang wet clothes unless you put outside, no kitchen, no coffee, no sitting area/TV, only a bed. Outlets were installed to far away from nightstands so it was not possible to turn lamps. Bed was not big enough and bed covers were also not big enough to cover one person comfortably.

El personal súper amable y atento, nos dieron toda la información que necesitábamos y ayudaron en cualquier necesidad que teníamos. Se escuchaban monos pero no logramos verlos 😞 pero aún así la habitación y todo en general muy bonito.

Me gustó la cama queen, la individual estaba se sentían los resortes lo cual no fue de mi agrado, el lugar en general limpio, la alberca muy bien, el internet siempre excelente, vimos muchos monos, iguanas y guacamayas, el desayuno muy rico y muy amable la persona que lo sirve
