"This was a great visit with my wife. The house is a special one and a rare find. The area is great and with the ocean just steps away, we couldn’t have asked for more."
Beach in your backyard: spa and private garden Northshore Waialua
4/10 Poor
"We stayed at this property after Kona low storms caused widespread damage. Before our trip, there were significant safety concerns including flooding, road closures, power outages, and a boil water advisory, The governor was discouraging travel to the area.We reached out to Evelyn the host to see if it was safe to proceed. Her response indicated that our safety and the needs of the community were not a priority. Traveling into the area was unsettling. There were visible “Do Not Enter” and “No Tourists” signs, detours, and active cleanup efforts. The ocean was brown, with significant debris floating by. While the ocean conditions are outside of the homeowner’s control, the home’s premium price is clearly tied to its proximity to the ocean. Regarding the home, the sleeping arrangements were the strong point with comfortable beds, and plenty of linens and towels. The home shows signs of wear and inconsistent cleanliness. The kitchen drawers contained crumbs and many dishes were dirty. We found relaxing uncomfortable due to the futon style couch. The kitchen counter height is awkward making it uncomfortable to eat. The only way to eat together is to sit outside at the table under the surveillance of 3 cameras. The smoke detectors were missing, the front door lock was broken. If you choose to book this property, purchase travel insurance that allows cancellation for any reason. The significant number of exorbitant potential fines and fees should serve as a red flag to proceed."

"We were forced to exit the property due to the Emergency evacuation order. We left with 2 days left on our reservation. Is there a refund to me from having to evacuate the area."

8/10 Good
"My spouse and I, and 3 y/o had a wonderful stay. There’s so much to love:- the whole beach by Alligator Rock to ourselves (just across the street); we saw a sea turtle!- extremely communicative and thoughtful host. She left a little Peter Rabbit gift for our child since our stay was over Easter.- kitchen equipped for meals and margaritas ;)- fans in each room/area with good A/C- we utilized the beach gear, including stuff for the kiddo- incredible huge copper tub that made unwinding in the evening that much more luxurious. The only thing we didn’t love was that marijuana smoke occasionally pervaded the living room area only (even with all windows closed); this only happened twice. The host took our concerns seriously. We highly recommend this place and host."
