Hanalei Bay Resort overlooks Hanalei Bay from a tropical, lush 28 acres in Princeville. Beautiful ocean and Bali Hai views are everywhere on this property. With four new artificial turf and two new hard courts as well as 6 new pickleball courts added to this world ranked tennis resort, everyone is sure to find their groove. Beach access is provided down a long, fair grade, paved path, and the resort staff offer convenient golf cart rides to the beach below.

This lovely studio unit will make a great location for your next vacation! Private, quite, mountain and garden views. Conveniently located close to the pool, tennis courts and hot tub, as well as the parking area. The county of Kauai does not permit this studio to have a kitchen. There is only a coffee maker, blender and electric tea kettle.

peaceful condo and beautiful resort

It was perfect for my adult daughter and I (she’s very nice to share a bed with Mom). Great base camp- our rental car gave us the flexibility to stay in beautiful Princeville and explore the rest of the island. Pool here is amazing and easy beach access

Convenient location

Near restaurant, sufficient space for two. Facilities are nice. The connected beach is pleasant but requires a steep walk to get there. They also have golf cart shuttle you may request to get up and down from beach.

Really nice room on a beautiful property overlooking the Bay. Loved the high ceilings which made the space feel large. Good size for a couple.

Nice Stay

We really enjoyed our stay! Hanalei Bay is beautiful and the unit was well stocked. We enjoyed the tennis rackets, cooler, boogie boards and other amenities that we were provided. Enjoy your visit!

The room was as listed and the stay was wonderful. We loved the resort and the amenities available as well as the location and proximity to different beaches, towns, and activities. The only downside to the stay was a number of bugs throughout the stay. While this is somewhat expected given the climate and it was not excessive, we were consistently finding 1-2 cockroaches a day. Other than that, this was a 5-star stay.

Roaches :(

The good: check in was easy, the bellhop service was wonderful. Gorgeous view from the patio, great amenities, great location with beach access. Convenient location near shops and restaurants. The bad: On our first night we found two cockroaches in our bathroom. We contacted the property owner who told us they would contact their pest removal service. I am not sure if they did so during our stay. The next morning we found two more roaches. The worst part is that the owner did not even apologize. It’s a shame because the rest of the stay was great, but I would not stay in this home again.

Great Location - Unresponsive Host

Hanalei Bay Resort is wonderful and the staff are a delight. This condo is very small and does not have a kitchen, just a sink and a mini fridge. We spent days reserving the adjoining unit. Prior to checking in, the host was very responsive, but once the check in date arrived, the host took days to respond to messages. We eventually did add the adjoining room and appreciated the full kitchen and extra bathroom, although that bathroom does not have a bathtub, despite one being shown in the floor plan.

Terrible Unit

The property is very very old and the unit has a remodel bathroom and that’s it. There is no microwave or cooktop and plugs are capped off in a kitchen sink area . There are dishes but no way to prepare food unless you use the old grills outside and no way to warm up food. There were termite bugs noise the unit around the bedding and pillows . Freaked us out!

All in all tiptop

Initially, we thought that you can cook in the accommodation. However, this was not possible. Therefore, we switched to the BBQ grills in the complex. Worked wonderfully.

An ok experience, clean.

This was our first time to Kauai and we stayed at this property the first night we arrived. It was very easy to find using google directions. After check in, we were provided a map of where to park and where this unit was located on the 22 acre campus. Parking was very limited in the lot closest to the unit. Then you have to trek with your bags down a back driveway, beyond the dumpsters and a busy employee maintenance worker entrance area complete with loading docks. Tip: leave anything in your car that is not worth carrying all the way through all of this and down, down to the unit. Once inside, the unit was very pleasantly clean, cool and welcoming. The bed was amazing. We slept like babies but had to get a move on in the morning. We checked in 7:00 pm and had to be out by 10:00 am the following morning. The early checkout makes things really rushed in the morning and kind of makes you feel like you barely got your moneys worth. I would have paid extra to check out a couple hours later. In the end, we rate this unit with 4 stars. 3.5 stars seemed not quite enough. We probably would have rated our experience 4.5 stars had it not required the commute through the not-so-satisfying employee entrance area. If we choose to stay at Hanalei Bay Resorts again, we will pay extra for a more centralized unit. Also, if you stay on a Wednesday and want a drink at the bar when you first arrive, byob! The bar/restaurant is closed on Wednesday evenings?? The pool area is open until 10:00 but is dimly lit. The hot tub was broken which was a real bummer also. Good, clean place to sleep and take a clean shower. If you pack light and don’t mind a bit of a hike to your room, this may be the place for you!!

Amazing view of the mountains

Get What You Pay For!

We had a great vacation, but...we were a bit disappointed with the property. The room as good, but it was a bit run down and dusty. There were chips in the wall paint, the art work was dated and warped, furniture has seen better days, and there was dust everywhere (under the bed, the lamps, base boards, etc.). But the view was great, room was quiet and the bed was super comfortable. Now onto the resort...it was very disappointing. They call it a resort, but there was very little there to offer the guests. Pool bar was indefinitely closed, the main restaurant was closed, and the only place to eat was the lounge but it's only open 5 days a week from 3-9pm. There was no place on the property to have coffee or eat breakfast and lunch. And, the lounge had issues two of the four nights we were there so the wait time was crazy long and they couldn't serve alcohol. It was nice that they had a beach to access from the property, which it took 15-20 minutes to walk to, but they don't offer any restrooms once you're there. We won't be going back to HBR.

HBR Stay

The condo we stayed in was exactly as advertised; clean, comfortable, with a nice tropical balcony view. Good value for the very reasonable price. Overall the resort property is a bit outdated and more geared toward families.

Beautiful spot

We really enjoyed our stay at the beautiful HBR. The studio style apartment with mini fridge and coffee maker was great. My favorite part was the really comfortable king size bed, the pack n play AND high chair for our baby, and the beautiful private and shady beach with the beach and snorkeling gear provided!

Previewing property for possible purchase in HBR

Well, HBR is in a beautiful location but most of what owners pay for in the $3700 monthly HOA dues are run down or not working or closed indefinitely. The restaurant staff is all elderly and sooooo slow. The pool pics are very deceiving. The hot tub fits eight at most but has a four person limit. The unit itself is old, tiny and the carpets and furniture is really dirty. We did not sit on anything. Water drains super slow everywhere. Tiny clothes closet filled with cleaning and beach stuff. Old dresser and desk. Missing drawers in what used to be a kitchenette. Hood vent still attached under cabinets over a glued on butcher block where burners used to be. Patio is tiny and very hot in am. No Privacy wall between you and neighbors, just some cheap wooden shutters, so you get to have your coffee and conversation with them too. Very thin walls as well. We had a very unhappy one year old next door. Parking is a huge battle and a long steep walk carrying luggage and food in the pouring rain. There are ongoing lawsuits regarding the awful parking situation at HBR for good reason. Some tennis courts in good shape but most are unusable. Cracked concrete courts are bad. Turf courts are fine. Overall, the unit was dated, dirty, warped paintings on the walls, brown ugly paint on main wall, dark icky carpet and lots of bugs. The shower was remodeled and the only part not worn. We won’t be buying here or coming back to any unit unfortunately. HBR used to be so nice
