With new rules, restrictions and safety measures in place, travel looks a bit different in this day and age. These are some helpful things to know before you hop on that plane to Prairies:

• Research what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your destination and origin. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you book.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, even at screening checkpoints. Be ready to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked by a TSA officer.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on bag. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to remove it from your bag for scanning.
• Place any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and wallet) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.

As passengers and cabin crew start traveling again, most commercial airlines have implemented social distancing and other important actions to help fight COVID-19. Here are some good examples:

• Air Canada - this airline is known for conducting passenger temperature checks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• WestJet - this airline is known for cleaning with disinfectant and electrostatic cleaning.
• Pacific Coastal Airlines - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
