We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. While the rooms are small and the sofa bed is not the most comfortable, everything else made it wonderful. The room: small, clean, awkward bathroom with the way the door opens and the shower head functions but CLEAN. Breakfast: a wide selection with lots of fruits and the breads were delicious Dinner: one night was a buffet which was very affordable and better than some restaurants we ate in Porto. The next was from a menu, the selection was limited and not much for a picky eater but we still left satisfied. The service was top notch. Parking: is limited but we kept getting lucky to find a spot Location: you are an easy 15 minutes from everything you need to see in Porto. The roads are fantastic and Google Maps is flawless. Cab or Uber are both great options to be dropped downtown for the day. Staff: extremely helpful and friendly. Perfect English if that’s what you need. Amenities: the pool is very cold. But the outdoor space, playground, and indoor kids play area made us feel like they were happy to see our entire family.

Very disappointing stay — we ended up checking out three days earlier than originally planned. The facilities are clearly outdated. The shower is built into a bathtub with only a curtain, which feels inconvenient and not in line with what you would expect at this price point. The air conditioning also performed poorly — even in April, the room was warmer than the outside temperature. For guests traveling with dogs, there is an additional €10 per night fee, and pets cannot be left alone in the room for more than one hour. This restriction is quite limiting and not clearly justified. The biggest drawback, however, is the location. The hotel is in Vila Nova de Gaia, which requires at least 20–25 minutes of driving to reach the main attractions in Porto, often with heavy traffic. While public transport is available, we eventually moved to a centrally located hotel where everything was within walking distance — a significantly better experience. Additionally, we found that the water boiler in the room was leaking. This was reported to the hotel, but no action was taken to repair or replace it during our stay. Ultimately, we chose to forfeit three nights of our booking rather than continue staying under these conditions, which reflects how unsatisfactory the experience was.

Nosso quarto tinha vista para o mar e o sol bate no quarto a tarde toda, o sistema de ventilação do hotel estava no modo inverno, portanto o quarto estava muito quente, abafado, sem condições de dormir bem, a cama desconfortável, eu e meu marido acordamos com dores nas costas todos os dias, o banheiro no dia que chegamos com cheiro de que não tinha sido lavado. Apesar de estar do lado do Porto, o acesso ao hotel e aos locais são complicados e acessos difíceis. O quarto e o café da manhã foram bons. Quanto ao "chefe" em serviço no dia 28/01/26, foi um caso a parte, esta pessoa desprezível se mostrou indiferente quando solicitamos o aquecimento de comida para minhas duas filhas. Entendo que não seria função dele, mas incluo também a atendente presente no dia que não quiz aquecer a comida e passou a responsabilidade para o chefe. Uma solução simples seria deixar um forno de microondas para os hóspedes para não dependermos da má vontade de alguns profissionais do hotel.

Bom, mas com alguns detalhes importantes

Pros: Café da manhã é bom, com opcões saudáveis e máquina automática de panquecas. Shopping Arrábida bem perto, porém não dá para ir andando. Contras:Estacionamento é compartilhado com outros 2 hotéis na mesma região e não tem vagas suficientes para todos. Constantemente reparei que não havia vagas perto da entrada do Novotel. Piscina não é aquecida. Localização é distante de qualquer ponto turístico e não há possibilidade de ir andando.
