Bruno's Wine House
Located near the Cais de Gaia (Gaia’s wharf), just a stone’s throw from the World of Wine Museum, and right in the heart of a cluster of port wine cellars, this two-bedroom apartment—which sleeps up to six—offers an immersive experience in Portuguese wine culture and the region’s time-honored traditions.
Located near the Cais de Gaia (Gaia’s wharf), just a stone’s throw from the World of Wine Museum, and right in the heart of a cluster of port wine cellars, this two-bedroom apartment, which sleeps six, offers an immersive experience in Portuguese wine culture and the region’s time-honored traditions.
In this ideal spot right by the Douro River, guests can walk down to Cais de Gaia and then on to the Ribeira (Downtown Porto) and the old town, where they can visit the city’s most iconic monuments.
This apartment was renovated in August 2020 and features two bedrooms, each with a balcony and plenty of natural light, a living room with a kitchenette, and a beautiful garden (shared with the other apartments in the condominium), perfect for enjoying breakfast outdoors, reading a book, or even having a barbecue (barbecue, garden chairs, and table are all provided).
With enough space for six people, this apartment is equipped with modern furniture and comfortable beds. There are two bathrooms, both with showers, a fully equipped kitchen (including an oven, microwave, induction cooktop, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker, among other items), and an utility room (complete with a washing machine, dryer, and iron). Air conditioning and satellite TV are available in the living room and in both bedrooms, along with Wi-Fi internet access throughout the entire apartment. All guests are provided with high-quality bed linens and towels.
To help you savor the finest wines, this apartment features a climate-controlled wine cellar and a small selection of books on oenology. Take a few moments to learn about wine culture; there’s so much to discover.
This apartment is located on a quiet street in Vila Nova de Gaia and is the perfect place for you to rest and relax at any time of day. From this location next to the Cais de Gaia, guests can reach about 12 port wine cellars on foot, taste dozens of varieties of this Portuguese wine, and visit the World of Wine Museum. From here, you can take a cruise along the Douro River and stroll through Porto’s old town, where the city’s main landmarks are located, such as the Clérigos Tower, the famous Livraria Lello bookstore, Porto Cathedral, the Palácio da Bolsa (the old Stock Exchange Palace), and many, many more.
After exploring the city center, take the opportunity to go for a refreshing bike ride along the river between Cais de Gaia and Marina da Afurada (Afurada Marina), where you can enjoy the best freshly caught grilled fish. To help with your digestion, continue on to Canidelo Beach and then take the opportunity to go for a swim or take a surfing lesson.
As the regional saying goes, “the best thing about the city of Porto is the view of Gaia.” So, to discover the reasons behind this popular saying, at the end of the day, why not take a aerial cableway ride across the Douro and enjoy the marvelous sunset from the Jardim do Morro (Morro Gardens), which offers truly unique views of the Douro and the Ribeira, Porto’s riverwalk, with all its beautiful lights.
Guests can reach the following places on foot: Port wine cellars (5 mins); Cais de Gaia (9 mins); Ribeira do Porto riverwalk (15 mins); Porto’s old town (20 mins); Vila Nova de Gaia town center (5 mins);
The nearest metro station is a 9-minute walk away (D Line – General Torres station) and offers connections to all other lines in Vila Nova de Gaia and Porto. The Afurada marina and Canidelo beach can be reached by car (12 mins), by bicycle (40 mins), or by bus (40 mins).
Quick access to the main highways heading south is available via the A1 (5 min) and the A29 (8 min), as well as to those heading north via the Arrábida Bridge (5 min), the Dom Luís I Bridge (5 min), and the Infante Bridge (10 min). There is street parking outside, as well as several parking lots in the immediate vicinity of the apartment.
I love to provide my guests with the highest level of care possible, and I maintain each apartment as if it were my own home.

We really enjoyed our stay and have zero complaints. The apartment was clean, found parking, plenty of towels, shampoo, toilet paper, kitchen is fully stocked. Loved the little terrace, the view and the beds are comfy! We would stay here again!!! Thank you Bruno!
This property was perfect for our family's 3 day visit to Porto. Very clean and nice property, and good base location for exploring the town and surrounding area.
Enjoyable stay at Bruno's Wine House. Very clean and comfortable living space. Host responded quickly to questions, very accommodating to early check-in and later check-out. Would recommend.
We found the apartment very convenient and comfortable. Really liked staying on the Gaia side of the city. Bruno responded quickly to all my questions.
Bruno's Wine House is absolutely wonderful! Very update and very clean!
It had everything possible to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. Kitchen was very well equipped!
Bruno was an exceptional host and was very responsive. The property is beautiful with original hardwood and tile, beautiful decor and a perfect walkable location! I would absolutely recommend! Our family of four had a wonderful stay and were very comfortable!
The place was exactly as expected, very cute, clean and in perfect location. We walked everywhere from there. It has easy access to all the cool places and restaurants. Bruno was very helpful and responded to us very quickly. We liked Bruno's visit when he gave us many tips of where to go and what to see. While there you have to visit at least one of the Port Cellars.
Bruno's Wine House was perfect for our stay in Gaia. After getting used to the steep hills of Gaia and Porto, we really appreciated the location of Bruno's. Beautiful views, lots of room, a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of light. The only drawback is that the living room couch was not the most comfortable (a bit too firm), but since most of our time was spent exploring, it wasn't a major drawback. I highly recommend a stay here for anyone looking for the comforts of home away from home.
We had a wonderful stay at Bruno’s Wine House. The apartment had plenty of room for us to spread out our belongings. We were able to catch the metro and tour Porto very easily. Vila Nova de Gaia is an interesting town, with all of the port wine houses located close to our accommodation. It was extremely helpful that Bruno had a washer/dryer available for us, since we had been travelling for over one week before we arrived at his property and finding a laundromat is difficult.
This was our last stop on our vacation and Bruno's place was the nicest of the 5 places we stayed over our 2 week vacation. Great communication with Bruno. We were able to get access a few hours early and he also allowed us to keep our luggage in the apartment for a few hours after check out. Located across the river from downtown Porto but it's just a quick15- 20 minute walk to river and tons of shops and restaurants. Also close to metro station if you want to take the train. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Porto.
We loved Bruno’s Wine House so much! It’s the most beautiful apartment on the street! It was so comfortable, with a fantastic layout and beautiful details. We all wanted to move in. Bruno was an amazing host. He was so communicative and checked in on us to ensure we were happy. If you want to stay somewhere quieter, but close walking distance to the river and Porto, this is the place for you. I highly recommend. Bruno has thought of everything!
The property was exactly as listed. The building is old but very tastefully decorated. We had absolutely everything we could need for our 6-night stay. Bruno was excellent to deal with and answered any questions promptly. The property is in Gaia, which I hadn’t realized initially but we were so happy we ended up in a quiet part of the area that was still close to all amenities. Have the ability to enjoy the backyard space was great. Opening the garden doors in the morning hearing the birds sing was one of my favourite parts.
The apartment worked well for our stay. There was ample room for 2 couples. The apartment was well appointed. The elevator was very handy. And Bruno was an excellent host. He was very responsive and available to answer any questions we had. In terms of location, the apartment was about a 10 minute walk to a couple grocery stores. The river and port lodges were walking distance away, although walking down to them was easier than walking back to the apartment. Given the hills and narrower streets, parking was at a premium. Traffic was also very congested at times. So we chose to use covered parking to stow our car away and we used Uber to take us places beyond walking distance.
We thoroughly enjoyed Vila Nova da Gaia and Porto on our visit. Bruno was a very good communicator before, during and after our stay.
We left an important item behind and Bruno (and his Mother) went above and beyond to help us get back to pick it up. We travelled to Braga City to meet Bruno’s Mother and followed his advice on visiting areas in Braga Centro. An amazing hidden gem. So much to see and do there. We visited the beautiful Braga Cathedral and the surrounding area near ithe cathedral t is a beautiful pedestrian shopping and dining zone.
Thank you very much Bruno. You were a great host and we appreciate all the help you provided.
