Black bears are quite abundant in this area, and are actually more common in this part of eastern North Carolina than they are in the Great Smoky Mountains. I didn't actually see the bear, but these tracks were quite fresh.

The door did not lock. Very old property. There was a lingering smoke smell. The floors were clean, the beds were clean and comfortable. A good place if you are trying to get a few hours of sleep. price is good too.
