Great central location, within the free CAT zone, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel and only a 5-minute walk from the train station. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade at check-in. The room was spacious, featured a balcony, and offered a nice open view. While the stay was comfortable, the hotel would benefit from some renovations, particularly in the bathroom.

Our stay at the Mercure was ok - a very old building - no microwave - drinking glasses, cutlery and plates in the room - Loved the buffet breakfast but the other meals were poor options and size of meals were very small - The staff were very friendly

Mercure on Hay is a convenient location. Staff great on arrival and not to far to walk into town. Good restaurant available downstairs. Rooms need a revamp but old and tired looking. Didn't like I got charged an additional $40 at check-out for paying using a credit card and got told it was a booking fee from Expedia. Thankfully the checkout clerk advised that was incorrect and refunded it. If he wasn't there we wouldn't have known and been charged the extra.

Not sure how a room is sold to customers where the cold water to the shower does not work. It then begs the question as to if the shower was cleaned prior to my arrival. Was advised it would be fixed…wasn’t. Two nights with no shower facilities in a 4 Star Hotel….
