Staff was helpful with suggestions for places to eat and stored our bags until our room was ready. The view from the bar was great and they had just put out new furniture on the patio."

"This is a very special property. Upon check in, we were told the legend of Pedro and Innes, a tragic and romantic story that allegedly took place here. This set the tone for our exploration of this grand and historic accommodation. The public lounges are exquisite, and the library is full of old-world charm. The gardens are moody and extensive, well worth a stroll. We dined in both their restaurants, and the service and food were flawless. Our reason for visiting Coimbra was to see the historic university. And although the university is exceptional, this hotel stole the show!"
