Not the best place I would recommend to stay. Shower did not work and no hot water - they did fix that but when you pay a high price for your stay your expectations were dashed. Room was lacking and no tea or coffee unless you go up to hostel area and get it from there. The Staff were very good and helpful. We would not stay there again!

No phone in the room. No small fridge. No iron or iron board. Ac was not cooling. First night was no water to shower etc and we weren't informed. I wrote to whatsapp number for hotel and never recieved a response. I wrote online recieved a response 1 and a half day after saying they will onform front desk to reimburse something from our first night due to no water. To date i haven't recieved any response and thats been since 23 Jan 2026. What we paid was def not worth it.

The room was clean and comfortable until we found a cockroach on the nightstand. The staff was friendly and helpful. The common area kitchen could use some sprucing up. The refrigerator was full of half used products and could use a good cleaning.

The staff was attentive and great. In fact, the staff was put in a difficult position as reprentatives of an inadequate facility. The pictures and description do not properly represent the reality of Magnolia Inn. Magnolia is primarily a hostel and most staying there were backpackers staying in dormitory rooms. My backpacling days are well behind me and I expected to be staying in a proper hotel for our one-week stay. Unfortunately, our room had no closet for our clothes. No bureau to put our clothes away. No housekeeping services....Fortunaely, after four nights the staff was able to move us to another room that had a closet and housekeeping. My problem is not that the Magnolia did not provide these services but that the property was not presented for what it was and was not.

The room was clean and the hotel was in a great location close to many things to do in the old city. There are lots of restaurants and cafes near by where you can have breakfast or enjoy a great dinner. The only thing I need to mention is that some of the nights there was some loud music from some out door dance club or restaurant that lasted until 2:00 AM. This did interrupt our sleep

Here is my honest review of the hotel and the deluxe private room we booked: 1. The hotel was difficult to get to because of the configuration of the surrounding one way streets 2. The room smelled musty, and when we turned the air con on, it smelled of mold. Our lungs hurt after 40 mins in the room 3. When we tried to wash or hands, we discovered our room had NO RUNNING WATER. We went to the front desk and they said there was no water throughout the entire hotel cz their water tank needed to be refilled and the truck couldn’t get there to refill it. We cancelled our reservation, demanded our money back, and booked another hotel. The front desk staff were very nice and apologetic. I’m disappointed that Expedia would have this hotel with such a high review rating on its site. It was certainly misleading.

Broken Marble steps that the hotel could not repair because of it being a Heritage site. Small rooms. Noisy streets in Caseo Viejo. Rooms don’t have good lighting and the shade was broken. Staff however were good and accommodating.

The Magnolia is perfectly placed in the heart of Casca Viejo in Panama City. It’s also a very short drive (10 min) to the Miraflores Visitor Center to see the Panama Canal. It’s incredibly walkable. It’s a five min walk to all the attractions in Casca Viejo. I also found it easy to get picked up and dropped off for ride share apps (Uber). The hotel offered a pick up/drop off service from the airport. I used the service to get from the airport to the hotel so that I wouldn’t have to worry about transportation first thing. It would have been simple to just call an Uber and it would have saved me about $20. Ubers in Panama City in general are very easy. The hotel also offered a daily walking tour of Casca Viejo (tips only). This tour was great! It was about 2.5 hours. It left the lobby at 9:45 am. Walked all over. This may have been the highlight of my stay. The hotel was nice. It was clean, the beds were firm, the bathroom had shampoo and body wash. It felt slightly dated but not dirty. There was a shared kitchen space so all guest could cook, use the fridge or freezer, use the appliances, share ingredients/spices, etc. I didn’t use the shared kitchen but I think that’s a cute idea. There was tea and coffee offered every morning in the shared kitchen area (there was not a coffee maker in the room). The staff were nice and gave me information about where to eat a few times. They offer luggage storage, which we used twice without any problems.

the hotel itself was really cute. we loved the room itself, but the exterior bathroom had cockroaches. overall, the room (for the external bathroom) was really clean and nice, but the bathroom, with the bugs at night, was not the best. loved the location as well.

Stars given only for location and for the nice teenaged receptionist at arrival. 1) The first room I was given was dirty. As in, had not been cleaned at all: dirty towels balled on the floor, hair in the sink, trash overflowing, bed unmade. I was switched to a ground-level room for the first night, very noisy. 2) The water shut off on day 3, a staffer shrugged and said “it happens” and did not offer any help with my needs. (A manager later told me the water should be back in 1/2 hour, it was) 3) everyone in the neighborhood knows the key code for the lobby entrance; the front desk is often unattended: poor security. 4) no elevator and all rooms are up or down stairs; no dedicated bellman.
