Checked in after 8+ hour drive, opened the door and there was an industrial air dryer blowing in the unit. Walked in and discovered that the carpet was wet in several places. Contacted the owner and he stated at first that he didn’t know what was going on. He reached back out and stated that they had cleaned the carpet. Although I appreciate clean carpet, this should have been done at least a day before we checked in and walking in wet carpet is nasty. Owner offered a meal voucher to a restaurant that we didn’t want to or couldn’t eat at based on our schedule. In addition to this, the chemicals they used caused me to have sinuse and respiratory issue. The bathroom floor had hair on it, We could hear every footstep from the unit above us (poor insulation is my guess). As a former customer service manager, my suggestion to this owner would have been to reimburse at least the first night’s rental costs. Meal voucher? Come on! Not what you expect when you plan, choose a place and spend the money to go on vacation.
