An absolutely lovely couple running this spacious and well equipped place that felt like a home. The balcony and outdoor spaces were perfect and the view was stunning. Inside offered great gathering spaces and both rooms had very comfortable beds. All of this plus thoughtful touches like wine, yogurt, fruit, and eggs in the fridge PLUS homemade fresh loaf of sourdough?! I never wanted to leave! Highly recommend!

Overall ok

Overall it is clean and comfortable. The view was amazing, love it. We thought the kitchen can be used but it was not. However, it did not bother us much anyway. There is a shared lounge, feeling like living in a big house :D Also Thanks for Peter for preparing us the breakfast :)

We had the most amazing 5 night stay at Cliff Edge by the sea with our host Peter who went above and beyond to make our stay an unforgettable one, he is an exceptionally good cook cooking for us 4 out of the 5 nights and the best breakfasts each morning, cereal, fruits nuts, sweet buns, toast, cheeses and cold cuts and of course coffee or tea. We just loved the lodge, beautifully designed and decorated. We really felt welcomed by Peter and very comfortable. Can absolutely recommend to stay here. You will not be disappointed and we do hope to come back for another stay. Thanks you Peter

Absolutely stunning views of the Bay of Islands, great romantic getaway spot. Convenient to Opua and the ferry to Russel, as well as Paihia. Peter and Daniel were great hosts. We enjoyed our time there, you will, too!

Lovely house on cliff edge with fabulous views over the bay. Peter, the owner cooked lovely meals for for us (and other guests) on two evenings; he is a former owner of restaurants in Australia. He is getting a bit tired - and some of the house furnishings felt the same; he has been there for about 15 years, I believe,

Had to stay an extra night it was that nice!

Location has amazing views, quiet and away from all the hussle of the tourist centered town nearby. Friendly staff, clean and comprehensive accommodations. Direct access to the coastal trail. Unfortunately the dinner option was unavailable two nights in a row but the breakfast was excellent.

Spectacular views, fantastic location

We were amazed at the spectacular views and idyllic location. The room was very comfortable and the facilities, of having access to the entire house was outstanding. Peter, is a very gentle, humble host who went out of his way to make us, the guests comfortable and totally at home. His out-of-the-way venue is actually very close to the car ferry to Russell and only a 5 minutes drive away from Paihia. We would love to stay there again, given the opportunity and will tell any friends traveling this way, too!

Beautiful location to enjoy the Bay of Islands

We discovered Cliff Edge as a very welcoming place. Our room had a magnificent and unspoiled view. You can just sit out on your balcony and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. Peter the host and Daniel his assitant are very friendly. The location is ideal to travel the Bay of Islands. The bed was very comfortable . The breakfast was good and we we had a wonderful dinner at " home" in the evening, enjoyed the converastione with the other guests. we would love to come again. Andrea and Ralf, March 2018

Idyllic view and fabulous food

Cliff Edge is fantastic. The views alone are breath taking, add to this it's tranquility and you are in heaven! We were fortunate to have two dinners made by our host. Both were gourmet treats and far better than our one dinner our @ a recommended restaurant. The bed was extremely comfortable. In fact, everything was perfect.

Filthy room, objectionable host out of date facili

Room was very dirty, said we did not understand what they were about! Cobwebs everywhere, filthy bathroom filter, spider on the pillow, remains of ants round the skirting board, musty dirty smell when entering the room. Host then added us to leave when we had no where to go. As I had asked for a vacum cleaner to try and clean the place.

Spiders, Old, and Expensive

If you are paying more than 300 a night you expect: 1) Not to have to kill 8 spiders. 2) Not to have shampoos in reusable bottles. 3) Breakfast included should also be a hot breakfast not toast and Muesli. 4) Not to smell of mold. 5) Not to have the A/C in a separate room. 6) Not to have the ceiling above the toilet so low you bump your head a lot. 6) Have a soap holder in the shower to put your soap/wash cloth. 7) Not to hear the person in the room above you every time they get in and out of the bed.

Bay of Islands - Cliff edge by the Sea

Beautiful panoramic views of the Bay of Islands from this boutique B & B. Even in a thunderstorm the Bay was incredible to watch and experience. Location is prefect between Paihia and ferry to Russell. Room was charming and well appointed, would recommend the Okiato room with balcony and incredible views. Peter and staff were very helpful and welcoming. We would recommend this B&B for a nice quiet stay in the North Island's Bay of Islands.
