One World Trade Center Tours

One World Trade Center which includes a skyscraper
Enjoy breathtaking views of the city from the observation platform of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, near to where the Twin Towers once stood.

Standing well above its skyscraping neighbors, One World Trade Center is a building that is easily identifiable from New Jersey and from most parts of the boroughs surrounding Manhattan. The reflective sheen of the structure’s glass is easy to mistake for metal, and its isosceles triangular façades give it the appearance of having a twisting motion toward the sky.

Few symbols of perseverance in New York City are more potent than this one. Near the skyscraper is also the site of the original World Trade Center Twin Towers, which were destroyed in a terrorist attack in 2001. The national tragedy led to the design of a new and even more impressive structure. The building opened in November 2014 and stands as a moving tribute to its predecessor as well as a marvel of its own.

Today many Americans are proud to say that One World Trade Center is one of the tallest buildings in the world. Take an elevator ride up to the main observation platform on the 100th floor. Enjoy 360-degree views of the city and beyond from 1,250 feet (381 meters) above street level. Then go down one floor to dine in the restaurant or café. Visit the building’s website for the platform’s opening hours and ticket prices.

Immediately next to One World Trade Center is the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, located on the site of the former Twin Towers. Spend time perusing the poignant exhibitions that line the museum’s walls. To ensure you get to see it at your preferred time, reserve tickets a few weeks in advance.

Near One World Trade Center are a number of restaurants and other sites. In the Financial District, get a picture with the famous Charging Bull statue. Take a walk in the Hudson River Park and see one of the most beautiful ground-level views in the city. Buy a gourmet coffee in TriBeCa, the neighborhood just north of One World Trade Center. There are several trains nearby, so you can continue on to anywhere in the city you please.

If you're going to the top, go early before it gets too foggy or dark to see the view. The museum has a lot of videos and information on and around the 9/11 events and there are lots of physical things on display, like damaged fire trucks, flyers and mementos left from people looking for loved ones, items salvaged from that day, original sections and ground of the original WTC bulding that were built around, pictures and stories of each victim, and info on the earlier attack on WTC. It's exhausting physically and emotionally. Plan on several hours. Arrive via subway at the Occulus, it's very futuristic and impressive, and gigantic.

Don't even try to go if it is cloudy or rainy. You can delay your ticket. If they warn you away, take it seriously.

My husband dropped his phone in the museum and the security guys found it after we had left and gone home. We called it, they answered and held it for us until we picked it up (after the museum was closed!). Mike the head of security that night, was an absolute delight!!!!

We didn’t go to the museum but did see the memorial. The memorial was nice to see but we expected it to be much more grand. Loved that there were two fountains, one for each building taken down and that the names of everyone lost were embedded.

The 9/11 Museum is located there as well. Can get tickets ahead online which saves you from standing in long lines. There is an extra $2.00 fee for buying online tickets. Well worth the extra fee.
