"I think very few gaijin go this far out. Some of the communication was difficult but the staff tried really hard and we enjoyed the stay Hard to navigate getting to and from major stations and it snowed one day at end of March Overall I’m glad we did it for the experience to be immersed in Japanese culture. "The Yunomori onsen ryokan was one of the best places I've ever stayed at. The Kaiseki breakfast and dinner was incredible and the staff were 10/10 amazing. We had an in-room onsen and it was perfect. The entire place was clean and incredibly cozy. I would absolutely recommend Yunomori to anybody! It's a short walk to Yuno Lake nearby and also some beautiful waterfalls. I highly recommend this place to stay in Nikko. It was a very special experience for us. "

"If your goal is to get as remote as possible, this is the place for you. It’s an adventure to get to, but when you get there, the remote location provides a tranquility that is second to none. Wonderful experience."

"English speaking staff. Excellent Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts. Room has a nice river view and quiet . Hotel location is walking distance to all main sights and near Bus stop. Onzen open till midnight. Highly recommended."

"The food, atmosphere, and super friendly staff definitely make this place to return to. Staff was always friendly and very, very accommodating even with our limited Japanese vocabulary. Definitely the highlight of our trip for sure!"

"A very nice onsen hotel. The room was spacious, the bath was nice. Ample parking. The location was great."

"Amazing stay ,100% recommend!"

"Wonderful stay! This hotel is a gem. The owners take great care of this property and make their guests feel welcome. We would love to stay here again."

" Excellent "

"Excellent service, excellent private onsen inside the room."

"Really nice spa and staff. "

"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time. Without a car, there is limited access to any surrounding towns. There is a bus but it’s relatively infrequent. However, staying in is also great due to the 24 hour...

"露天風呂が複数あって良いです。循環と掛け流しの二通りあるので、掛け流しがどのように良いか体感できます。 食事も味つけが良くて美味しかった。 揚げたての天ぷらが美味しい。 カラオケも卓球も有料で、やや高めの値段設定なので、利用しませんでした。この点は残念です。"

"Amazing Ryokan held by a very nice couple. The kaiseki diner and breakfast were especially Amazing !! If you don’t mind using a public bathroom I totally recommend you this Ryokan 👍"

"Excellent food, convenient location, and attentive staff; we thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at this century-old inn! We chose Joshuya for an authentic ryokan experience. Stay here for a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, home-style Japanese meals shared with guests, excellent public hot spring, and a location within walking distance of major historical sites and Tobu Nikko Station. If you want conventional beds, private bathrooms, or the flexibility to come and go whenever you please, look...

"The room smelled like it had been smoked in for 20years, the bathroom wasn't great and had some mold presence. The room felt really outdated in general compared to the hotel which looks great when you first come in ! Breakfast was good, and staff really nice. Great location next to the nightlife and the temple is within walking distance !"

"お部屋のハンガーが、バランス悪く洋服を2人分掛けるにはキツかった。あと　枕が、低いので、予備にもう一つずつご用意していただけるとか　サービスのカタログの中に記入してあるとかいただけると良かったです。 お値段の割に　お部屋が少し狭かった。 お食事の時　足元が冷えて寒かった。"

"The onsen was great. Tattooed guests have two hours late at night they can use it which is lovely. The staff were super helpful and very kind. "
